I've been away too long
There's the tree that I used to climb
Call in at One Stop
Put my things in a long line
I love the streets here at night

I'm gonna write what I know
Things I ain't known for a long time
I met the real John Cale
He had no words, but I don't mind
I packed the stage while he ate rice

I rip myself on
I rip myself off
Imagining from the block
Imagining
Why wouldn't I wanna meet ya?
Why wouldn't I wanna hold?
Why wouldn't I wanna meet ya?

I'm gonna write what I know
Kick around on the big brown
So the lies I tell
Send me up, and I can't get down
I'm wearing big grass to town

I rip myself on
I rip myself off
Imagining
Imagining from the block
Why wouldn't I wanna meet ya?
Why wouldn't I wanna hold?
Why wouldn't I wanna meet ya?
Why wouldn't I wanna hold? Why?
Why wouldn't I wanna meet you?
Why wouldn't I wanna hold?
Why wouldn't I wanna meet ya?
Why wouldn't I wanna hold you?
Why?

I've never been a believer
Oh, I really wanna hold
Oh, I really wanna hold ya
Oh, I really wanna hold ya, why?

I'll never do it again unless you wanna do it again

Reminds of Joni Mitchell in her more abstract moments.
"Am I Jenny From The Block?" (Aldous Harding)

Indy folk song writer Aldous Harding sings of the confusion of waking up in her mid-30s, searching her memory for a Bronx childhood, a Diddy-era yacht, a green dress, and a Grammy snub.  She finds nothing, only the tree she used to climb, a silent John Cale eating rice, and the strange comfort of the One Stop convenience store. She grapples with a ghost of New York City fame she might have possessed, but is not sure ever existed.

Check out her Tiny Desk concert.

I enjoyed most of everything in this song, but that piano got under my skin.
Nice tune
I really like her voice.
Was just getting good as it faded out.
Awesomeness!

First the haunting piano and then the relaxing guitars.
Like a cold and warm shower.
