In parting ways
And parting hearts
A dress of leaves blows to the winds
Take these sacrificial remnants—untended
Bashed to dust
And trust distressed
Red cheeks, caved in

I don't believe anymore
Don't believe anymore
Cause all we know, is gone and cold
I don't believe anymore
Don't grieve anymore
Cause all I hold, is all I own

Is this a desperate wish for dying?
Or a wish that dying cease?
The fear that keeps me going and going and going
Is the same fear that brings me to my knees

I don't believe anymore
Don't believe anymore
Cause what was gold, is gone and cold
I don't believe anymore
I won't grieve anymore
Cause all we are, is bled and gone

I am the air, the after
Always in the clouds
Searching for some answer
Parted now, I am the shore—repeated
Becoming air
I'm finally free

I don't believe anymore
Don't believe anymore
What I can't see, can't hold to me
I don't believe anymore
I won't grieve anymore
Cause what was gold, is gone and cold
I don't believe anymore
Don't believe anymore
Cause what was gold, is gone and cold
I don't believe anymore
Don't believe anymore
I won't grieve anymore
Won't grieve anymore
For you

I liked it!
This voice is so ugly and disturbing I had to stop cutting vegetables for fear I might cut myself.

Second that motion.  Every time it comes on I look up to see if it is something new from the x-bauhausien.
It seems record companies sign up groups/ singers that are "off from the norm", but they wear a bit thin quite quickly. If you see this guy performing that point may arrive even earlier.
Someone listened to a lot of Peter Murphy.

Exactly my thoughts when I heard this first...
Strange vocals... but at least this guy doesn't sing just like everyone else.
Nice Bass Lines

It's already old.

Zero to antediluvian in under 10 seconds.
Well, that looks like it's the end of the Easter bunny.

Yes, the same (3-chord) chord progression (different key) in the verses, different progression in the chorus.  When it comes to tempo, just about every Future Islands song has this tempo, and this one's tempo is faster than that of U2's song.

Please Bill - make it STOP!!!!
It's that chain smoking Greek again.

Pretty good tune, but it seems like a lot of their songs have this same tempo and bass pattern.  Maybe it's just a few of them.

My observation also. Of course, my perception is based on hearing this band on RP. They have a distinctive enough sound, but if each piece hews to the same framework, this will wear out. Maybe this beat is necessary to unleash the singers' gyrations.
too melodramatic and lyrically repetitious....

Shades of Peter Murphy solo work?

No
Guys - enough of Future Islands and this song. Hearing it a lot when I tune in. Give it a rest.

Good call Proclivities.  I think of this as 'synth-pop'.  More traditional (irony intended) so-called progressive rock seeks to switch up the tempo, adopt unusual time signatures and use the bass on occasion to drive the melody.

I quite enjoyed the last Future Islands CD so I will listen attentively to this and other songs off The Far Field CD.
true dat, his voice does remind me of Peter Murphy (cross-bred with Ian Dury : )   cool tune
