And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house with a beautiful wife
And you may ask yourself, "Well, how did I get here?"

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

And you may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"
And you may ask yourself, "Where is that large automobile?"
And you may tell yourself, "This is not my beautiful house"
And you may tell yourself, "This is not my beautiful wife"

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was

Water dissolving and water removed
There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Under the water, carry the water
Removed water (water dissolving and water removed) remove remove remove remove remove

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, into the silent water
Under the rocks and stones, there is water underground
Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

You may ask yourself, "What is that beautiful house?"
You may ask yourself, "Where does that highway go to?"
And you may ask yourself, "Am I right? am I wrong?"
And you may say to yourself, "My God, what have I done?"

Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Look where my hand was
Time isn't holding up
Time isn't after us
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
Same as it ever was
After the rain holds up
Same as it ever was
Then a twister comes
Here comes the twister

(Letting the days go by) same as it ever was, same as it ever was
(Letting the days go by) same as it ever was, same as it ever was
(Once in a lifetime) let the water hold me down
(Letting the days go by) water flowing underground
(Letting the days go by) water flowing underground

I really like it that despite the TH/DB-bashing here this song still gets an average score of 8.1

In my book it's a big big 10, but still.
Image result for same as it ever was meme

Great song, but it really should be given a nice long rest, and brought out again only after a few years.

Don't blame the song because of  main stream radio.  I learned along time ago to shut songs down I don't want to get over cooked.

I'll second that. A VERY long rest!
The Heads & Eno - keep playing it!  8->9!
Great song, but it really should be given a nice long rest, and brought out again only after a few years.
Way, way over played. Is this local mind numbing radio?
Nice,   Mother's Little Helper followed by Once in  a Lifetime.   what are you trying to say Bill..................?   lol
Always and everywhere SAME AS IT EVER WAS... Today, having lunch at Blackbelly with a friend, this was playing — and everyone in there was dancing and singing along to it...a couple hours ago, I was shopping, and this was playing — and everyone in the store was grooving and smiling to it...just now, cooking up some killer Mexican chicken soup, this came on RP — and for darned sure, I was hopping and bopping around the kitchen to it!   ~ Letting the days go by ~  Same as it ever was!

Nice! {#Cheers}  And a 9 hear as well. In addition to being oddly brilliant, this is the first video I remember seeing on MTV at my friend's house when his was the first home in the neighborhood to have C A B L E. Whoa....

It certainly is. One of the very few reason for me to keep clicking PSD is the absolute overrepresentation of Talking Heads...

476 is "very few"?
The most insane way to place offbeat lyrics over an offbeat bassline which doesn't match the unusual drums, without making any mistake. One of my favorite godlike musical brainteasers of all times.

David Byrne is the poster boy for Tourette's Syndrome in the music video for this song

I have tried and tried again to like Talking Heads, I have however found that I need to be in the right mood but I am hardley ever there for them.
So I'll pass yet again.
"And you may find yourself listening to the horror that is David Byrne again." Terrible, terrible.
geeze Bill, you're rockin' more than ever.  "Here comes the twister".  Wonder where the lions are?  "Before I suputter out".?? Hang in there bro.  Fellin' kinds short myself these days.  Finances way short atm. Sry to stiff ya but your music enlivens me.  Tres merci boucoup.  Je t'aime beaucoup mon frere.
Is it just me or do I hear this song every week on every station I listen too..
I'm feeling a little like this today...
