Yes it most definitely was! I had a poster of it on my wall in my college dorm (no one else knew who she was). It was taken by photographer Gered Mankowitz who has taken a lot of famous rock photos.

Great album, had it on repeat as I pulled all-nighters towards the end of my degree. A lovely foil to all the caffeine coursing through my veins. That Bulgarian choir she used, amazing, I've since caught some of that four/five part harmony stuff live in Bulgaria. So close to dissonance but always resolved.

I saw the last performance of the Firesign Theater, and this was how why ended their show/career, with Phil Proctor moving from their written material (some new, some old) into this soliloquy.

Just when I thought Kate had lost her edge, she released The Sensual World. Was a great album and the title tune simply incredible. Waited for the laughter that starts the next and guess I'll have to go dig out the CD for the afternoon run to the grocery store.

Bush wanted to use Molly's soliloquy verbatim but I guess the Joyce estate wasn't diggin it, until just over 8 years ago...

“Originally when I wrote the song The Sensual World, I had used text from the end of Ulysses but was disappointed not to receive permission,” said the singer. 

“But when I came to work on this current project I though I would ask for permission again and this time they said yes. The song has now been retitled Flower of the Mountain and I am delighted that I have had the chance to fulfil my original concept.”

The character in the song is Molly Bloom, from James Joyces' Ullysses, so if you know her soliloquy at the end of the book, the use of Molly's "yes" is um... yeah, "promising"!

She works for you… or she doesn't. This song has lost a bit of the specialness it had the first 50 times I listened to it, but, as Queen Lucia noted, the opening bells still push the hand over to turn up the volume just a little…

My God, I feel old!  I remember first seeing her on Saturday Night Live in the late '70s (when Eric Idle of Monty Python introduced her) and she couldn't have been any more than 18 years old at the time.  Sitting on top of the piano and I think she sang "Those Heavy People" and "Man with the Child in His Eyes".  I agree with some others here that "The Kick Inside" is one of her best albums.

Never has the word "yes"sounded so decadent and so promising.  I love this.  Kate Bush is my Gaia, and I bet if I played her music in my garden, every single plant would leap joyously out of the ground with full blooms and fruit because of that voice.

I can't understand ,why there is nothing here to find from "The kick Inside" . I think , this is the best Kate Bush Album ever.
