Can you feel a little love?

As your bony fingers close around me
Long and spindly Death becomes me
Heaven, can you see what I see?

Hey, you pale and sickly child
You're death and living reconciled
Been walking home a crooked mile

Paying debt to karma
You party for a living
What you take won't kill you
But careful what you're giving

There's no time for hesitating
Pain is ready, pain is waiting
Primed to do its educating

Unwanted, uninvited kin
It creeps beneath your crawling skin
It lives without it lives within you

Feel the fever coming
You're shaking and twitching
You can scratch all over
But that won't stop you itching

Can you feel a little love?
Can you feel a little love?

Dream on, dream on

Blame it on your karmic curse
Oh, shame upon the universe
It knows its lines, It's well rehearsed

It sucked you in, it dragged you down
To where there is no hallowed ground
Where holiness is never found

Paying debt to karma
You party for a living
What you take won't kill you
But careful what you're giving

Can you feel a little love?
Can you feel a little love?

Dream on, dream on

Can you feel a little love?
Can you feel a little love?

Dream on, dream on
Dream on, dream on
Dream on, dream on

Beautiful! Happy to hear this. Play more please!

Put on earphones and turn this one up.  Brilliantly produced.
More Depeche Mode, please! {#Dancingbanana_2}
I never realized how much they sound like INXS.  Wow!
Haven’t heard this in years - thanks for resurrecting it!
Never heard this before today. Really good! Have never been a Depeche Mode fan...might need to reconsider.
Wow.....Depeche Mode, no shit? I really like the groove.
no
Very interesting

Agree with you cely - great song

Feeling that... all of it. This tune is working.
A Depressed Mode song I like! Not like the old days.
This has the most infectious groove I can think of, it seems so much more complex than the electronica I've heard. Johnny Cash new what he was doing when he did a version of Personal Jesus, they write good tunes.
Shaking my butt to this song... At Work... {#Bananapiano}
They grew on me too. When I was a teen/20 something, I didn't care for the original Depeche Mode but after their newer stuff came out in the 2000s, I really liked them.
I had an employee who adored Depeche Mode. I always wondered why? After listening to several of their songs I have to say that they really grow on you. It feels gooooood! And I dooooo feeeeel a litttttllllle biiiiiit of looove. {#Kiss}
What a surprise. I really enjoyed this. I hardly know any of their work. I only remember their name and have a vague impression that they were the perpetrators of a couple of silly videos that got way too much airplay in MTV's debut years. That category, however, is littered with the desecrated bodies of now-forgotten bands. This song convinces me that I should be paying closer attention.
Depressed Mode.
not feeling it
"What you take won't kill you
But careful what you're giving"

Nice tune. Not in a derogatory fashion.
Nice follow-up to The Shins "New Slang."  Bumps DP up as a result.  Nice work.
"10"
Funny - I walked into the office just now listening to Depeche Mode on my iPod.  Took out the earbuds and this one was on! Coincidence? Perhaps ;^).
My brother got up and sang (more like spoken) karioke to this song for me!  He did a great job — but I was the only one cheering.  Hard crowd (obviously not DM fans....).  {#Ask}

To the knowledgeable ones: Would each of you care to write at this page your top two favorite Depeche Mode songs, and what album(s) they are on?

As a Depeche Mode FANATIC you're limiting me at 2 ! {#Surprised}

I'll reluctantly choose these (they'll change by next week if not tomorrow);

"World in my Eyes" - Violator

"Perfect" - Sounds of the Universe

{#Mrgreen}

yeah, I remember when this came out...  good song...

Regardless of what you think about the song itself, their production has always been on the cutting edge of electronic music, they've pioneered many many sounds.

I could never just pick 2, but here are a couple of cuts that didn't get (much or any) commercial radio play that I particularly enjoy:

But Not Tonight from Black Celebration
Shame from Construction Time Again
Waiting For The Night from Violator
Get Right With Me from Songs Of Faith And Devotion
I Want You Now from Music For The Masses

Does anybody remember, "Speak & Spell" or "A Broken Frame?"
man, i haven't thought about those albums in years (decades?). it made me check out the tracklist on amazon. broken frame is where you can find the original "Leave in Silence", one of depeche's best regardless of era. thanks for the reminder.
Alex Kapranos from Franz Ferdinand sounds a bit like Dave Gahan. I'm just noticing that.

If, by "great stuff" you mean "horribly dated stuff" then I agree wholeheartedly. And by "horribly dated" I mean "horribly dated by the time Violator came out".
Does anybody remember, "Speak & Spell" or "A Broken Frame?" For those of you that don't know, it's their 1st and 2nd albums, great stuff.

Sorry, can't limit it to two. :) - "Personal Jesus", Violator - "Policy of Truth", Violator - "Enjoy the Silence", Violator - "People are People", Some Great Reward - "Walk In My Shoes", Songs of Faith & Devotion - "Strangelove", Music for the Masses - "I Feel You", Songs of Faith & Devotion My ex-girlfriend used to absolutely love "Blue Dress", off Violator. It was her favorite song.
I really love Depeche. Thanks so much to RP for playing great stuff like this... which I would never hear anywhere else!! I've never heard this gem before. Makes me hunger for more! Gotta buy me a new DM CD!! :good-vibes:

Mmmmm I love Depeche Mode! Fave songs: Enjoy the Silence--Violator Personal Jesus--Violater Precious--I forget the name of this album...
what about anything from any of their earlier recordings? From the 80's? many more treasures await your ears if you look farther back? maybe?
They really retained their cult status in the States, more so than in U.K, much like the Cult, Cure,etc I've always liked a more "American" sound...

"Walk in my shoes" off of Songs of Faith and Devotion, but really take any track off of that album. Brilliant and massive. "Waiting for the night" off of Violator, but again, take any track off of that album. Amazing.
I'll second the vote for both of those albums. Can't pick a favorite song, though...too many to choose from.
