A day once dawned and it was beautiful
A day once dawned from the ground
Then the night she fell and the air was beautiful
The night she fell all around

So look, see the days
The endless coloured ways
And go play the game that you learned
From the morning

And now we rise and we are everywhere
And now we rise from the ground
And see she flies, and she is everywhere
See she flies all around

So look, see the sights
The endless summer nights
And go play the game that you learned
From the morning

Almost impossible to listen to any of his songs without feeling a deep sense of angst for the artist and his short life.

Great segue. First get me thinking of Nick Drake on a cover then pull out another Drake song. Excellent!

Did it again today.  Nice job Bill
Excellent!!!
Oh, thank you for playing this.
Very relaxing song. I really enjoyed it.
All that water in the background makes me want to pee. Off to powder my nose...
Poor bugger. He might have had a chance these days. Great stuff while he was able to...It's nice some people saw that.

This album was one of my little guy's lullaby cds for a long time.... it works wonders, and I mean that with all respect and appreciation.

Very good indeed - such a gentle and evocative song. Once again I salute the genius of Nick Drake!  {#Good-vibes}

Sad though, I hope this song does not get ruinated by television commercials like Pink Moon. I can't even listen to that used to be wonderful song anymore and now this one is in danger of being removed from my playlist as well.{#Sad} Freekin AT&T!{#Arghhh}

I like when RP educates me as to where these 'commercial' songs originate!

Not enough painted covers like this these days.

I agree.  BTW, you are lucky to be living in BA...a beautiful city with amazing culture.

:-) yes, I love this city, still with all its troubles, noises, pollution and conflicts.. I was born and I've grown up here

I insist: all the music is world music.. there's not such a genre as "world music", unless we want to mean "rest of the world" music

Yes...  Sundance had a really excellent program about Nick Drake...  poignant...

Total genius
Does One Giant Leap's song "Braided Hair" sample this track?  If so, I had never realized that it was a sample...
A Nick Drake tune is always welcomed. Thanks Bill!
Nice to hear the real deal, thanks Bill!
aahh, that's better
Someday I'll agree with everyone and worship this guy.  Today is not that day.  I like the guitar, just don't dig the voice at all.  I find it annoying.

By world musc I'm talking about the didgeridoo/bongo drum-driven super repetitive songs (bagpipes also qualify) you hear so much on here. And if you don't agree with me about that kind of music being bad, you're wrong.
NOT "wrong"...just have a different opinion. World music is lively and exciting. It is a welcome breath of fresh air from some of the boring mainstream music overplayed to death. Expand, grow...enjoy music, art, culture from other areas of our beautiful world!

Now HERE is a singer-songwriter that I can actually enjoy. Never could get through an entire album of his in one sitting, though. His songs are great as individual "little breaks", but after a while, they all start to sound the same and lull one to sleep.
Place Nick's CD into your multi-disc player if you have one then place other CD's of choice into that same player then hit the random button. This always works for me when I suffer from what you discribe..
I beg to differ. 98% of Nick Drake's music was solid but have you heard "Magic"? pjterp wrote:

I disagree. I appear to be one of the few RP listeners who just cannot listen to Nick.

Nick is in a class by himself on the acoustic guitar.
