You can write your tunes with rhythm and blues as your alibi
You can sell your soul and lay the blame all on the passers-by
You shake your body on the TV screen
It seems to me, you'd try anything twice
And swing it out and use it as your aphrodisiac
You can give it to me, to me
Plain to see that I'll give it you back
You let it flow, let it go, there's nothing to it
Anyone can try anything twice, try anything twice

Chasing after stories that have already been told
Could not look old Son House in the eyes
Unaware you carry such a fragile load
But I've got yours, and you've got mine
It's a rhythm and blues alibi

La la la la la la la la la la laaa..
You can take a trip through your juke joint smoke-filled paradise
You can give it your all, 'cause you are walking a fine, fine line, la
You shake your booty on the TV screen
Seems to me, you'd try anything twice
You'd try anything twice
Well let me hear you now..

Chasing after stories that have already been told
Could not look old Son House in the eyes
Unaware you carry such a fragile load
And I've got yours, you've got mine
It's a rhythm and blues alibi
La la la la la

One of Gomez` better songs, IMO, as that douchebag Ben sings the least and gives someone with an actual talent to sing a chance; Ian. Good composition is a plus too.{#Cheesygrin}
Bill, thanks for turning me on to this awesome band. Never heard of them before I stumbled on to this amazing station.
Maybe this means something.

As there should be.

rdo, sometimes you completely trash songs I absolutely love, and sometimes you speak from MY soul.

This one is the latter!

10!!

There are over 40 Gomez tracks on the playlist.  I guess it's a matter of timing hearing them.
My favourite Gomez song and they sure have some crackers
I like Gomez.  I LOVE Gomez when Ben Ottwell sings the lead.

...... what he said
"How We Operate" was first song of theirs that I heard. They played at Jazzfest in New Orleans some years back and this song was on a 'Fest compilation CD.
Love hearing them on RP.

Hugely underated band, give us more please Bill
Great transition from Lee Michaels, blues. Something really 60's about this band,even as they are of this moment. Don't quite understand it but I like it.
Some sweet guitar tone on this track.

I agree, they may be the kings of the hit and miss band. Some of their songs are wonderful and some of them are horrible!! Makes you wonder how can the same band achieve both of those extremes??{#Stupid}

Ben Ottewell is singing the chorus on this one, that other guy sings the verse.  I don't think any person has ever liked a song just because another person likes it.  It does not work that way.  I'd say this is a remarkable piece of song here.  One of the best evahhhhhhhhhhh!
Jack White possibly? {#Cheesygrin}

I had to check this song because I thought it might be Eddie Vedder with Gomez....I like the voice!

Pretty much everything off the new CD falls into the horrible category unfortunately.

You hear two vocalists on this track, one singing the chorus and the other the verse, but both sound a bit like Vedder at first.   Once you listen more, you'll forget about that.

Whoa. EssexTex's post is admittedly over the top, but yours is personal and uncalled for. Civility, yes?

  I was referring to the emoticon Tex chose to use. Nothing personal.

If someone can translate...

{#Drunk}
The guitar riff in this song is a great followon to "Save it For Later" from the English Beat.
This is one of my top 20 songs of all time. 10

Gomez is another band that really shines live.  If you like their recordings at all they'll blow you away in person.
Love it. Thanks RP!
Another great tune from Gomez.

Yikes. Was that really necessary? Not cool, man.
Bumped it to a 9. Couldn't explain why, but that's okay too. c.

Well, after listening to "How We Operate" again (and again) and again, its starting to really shine as a musical masterpiece for most of the tracks. Still not as good as the earlier albums (as I've stated again (and again), but not a bad compromise. Bill sure loves these guys!
Hmm. I'll have to give How We Operate another chance perhaps. So far it just hasn't grabbed me the way In Our Gun or this one has.

Weird, I'm looking below at the same song order and the comment I made 2 months ago...
Wow, following Save it For Later with one of my top Gomez tunes. Lucky us. Thanks Bill!

I'm sure glad Bill loves Gomez, because I need my daily dose. If I don't get some Gomez on RP (or even if I do), I'll get it at home after work!
