End of June would be too late for me, but I like the idea of staggering plantings. Would the leaf spot from the earlier older plants infect the younger? Or is it just age related like everything I have? Might be worth a try.
honestly, I never tried this. lol I'm sick of tomatoes by the end of the first round. but I believe the virus is worse mid-season. pull up old plants before planting new.
Iwas going to try it this year, but my plants actually held on until september this year. I think it might have been the shade cloth reduced the usual stress.
tomatoes. it's probably leaf spot. very common. if you really want more tomatoes, start fresh seedlings end of June and replant.

I had my best crop of peppers ever; cayenne & mammoth jalapenos. Already made lots of hot sauce & one more batch to go.
The tomatoes did what they always do. They start to yield at the end of July and shortly afterwards we have bucket loads. But in a few weeks the plants start to die (brown leaves) & they're done before September. Maybe I need to spray them with something, but I haven't.

let's get some new/old threads going.
How is everyone's gardens?
we're in a really bad drought right now. wildfires. weather is way too warm for this time of year, the leaves are still clinging to the trees but the color has been nice.
We kicked but on tomatoes and peppers this year. We had a bunch of Anaheims that we roasted, and I had a weird unknow chili that came as a mis-lable in a flat that was supposed to be a shishito. The cold set in early and I didn't get them all off the plant before we left town. I'm heading back in December and curious to see what's left when I return (I'll pull all the plants down then too).
Now I'm in the land of Mangos and Avacados. No garden here though, maybe next year.
I didnt get my garlic bulbs in the ground in time...already have about a foot of snow on the ground.
I havent tried growing anything so far in the new house...we are at 7,700 ft elevation.

We are in drought conditions as well...Did the drought do in your pepper and tomato crops as well?
the drought didn't start until after the garden was done. the last rain was sometime in September. we went 45ish days without measurable rain before we had a small 3/8 inch a few days ago.
we did have a a bunch o' heatwaves this summer though. I had to use southern gardening methods to get through. Shade cloths to for the win! Never had to use those before but they worked great!
