We started listening in 2002, when we moved to a spot that only got Canadian radio broadcasts, and I was going crazy listening th chilliwack.
We did RadioIO and RP, but RadioIO soon got weird with contant and money. The community here served as my water cooler when I was at jobs where I couldn't interact with the locals in that manner. There are some very fine people in here.
Now the Cache and my big list of favorites gets me through my twice annual big ass road trip.
I still remember when Shoutcast and WinAMP were the only option listening to RP for me. Pinning it down to an exact year is difficult, but I'd say 1999 or 2000. Maybe William can shed more light on this.
That's how I found RP. Got my first confuser Fall of 2000, a Windows ME. Used the Winamp browser, looked up genres, saw eclectic and there was RP. Been listening ever since.
My profile says 2011, but I do remember listening in 2001 (it's easy to work out dates in my mind around 9/11) after hearing about RP thru KPIG. I left that job in 2002 and floated around a few places that I wasn't able to tune in at work. Even before signing up officially and becoming a paid subscriber I would often have Bill on while toiling away at my work. I also recall using the WinAmp player so that must have been how I tuned in.
Yeah,, I listened to RP on WinAmp probably as far back as 2001 or '02. I had a couple of other channels saved on there - some of the SOMA FM channels and another station named Luxuria Music. I didn't create a log-in for RP until years later. WinAmp was a cool interface.

May 28th, 2002 is my official member date. I actually started listening to the PIG about a year before and that is when I heard about RP. I transitioned completely to RP in the latter part of 2001 while living in New Orleans. I was working nights putting their FCC report's together. They had failed to file the last few years and were about to be fined. So as the new manager it was my job to get all the data and put the reports together. Some of the data had to be recreated so it was a bear of a project. I was able to work alone in the building on Canal street. It was just me and a couple of night guards who spent their time in the large meeting room watching TV. I was able to crank the music up and RP helped me get the job done.. Many changes since, both in RP and me, but we both keep on keeping on.
I tag-teamed with dmax so in total itâs beenâ¦hang on, I need more than just my fingers to count all the years. Gotta take off my shoes.
Might need to take off my pants, too.
(Edit - nope. Looks like the first post by that guy was maybe 17y ago)
