¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
I think my baby loves me
She loves this highway too
When she needs to ramble
Nothing else that will do
What do you think, Cholita
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
My baby needs to ramble
She needs that open road
She'll drift from town to town
Long as she is feeling low
You know that's right, baby
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
She's just a sad eyed girl with a drifting heart
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
I think my baby's getting restless
She'll soon be gone again
She knows I'll catch up with her
Can you tell me where or when, Cholita
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
Yea man, that girl can be hard to find sometime
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
We think someday we may find
The road that'll take us on home
Then we'll all be happy
With no more need to roam
You know what I mean baby
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
There she goes on down the road
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
Maybe she went home to Memphis
She loves that Southern breeze
Or on down to Mississippi
Looking for a life of ease
I know you're out there, baby
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
And I'm steady on your trail
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
I might look down on the border
We had us some fun for awhile
That spat we had in Laredo
Things get a little too wild
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
She'll get rough on you, you better watch out
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
Some people travel for business
Others just to look around
When you're on a dark road
Your truth it can't be found
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
She's always got her bag packed and ready to go
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
Let's go down to Cuba
Hear Cuarteto Patria play
They'll enrich our hearts with a memory
We'll have for the rest of our days
Come on, baby, let's go
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
¿Que te parece, Cholita, que te parece?
cholita = sweetheart?
I like it though!
YES now that is what I am talking about.
If you can't hear this is great music, then there's a lot of crap between your ears!
Earcrap! Jeezis- somebody call me the Rock-N'-Roll doctor! Better make that the Rock-N'-Roll Otorhinolaryngologist!
Anyway, the genre of the song is Son Cubano, and you can also dance salsa on it, so I'm all for it.
"This is crap!"
Must be art. (Or politics)
Ah, that explains it; I thought a team of mallards followed me home from the park and were hanging out in my driveway.

Source song, performed some time around 1950 by Pupi Campo and his band:

Would Muddy Waters have taken Charlie Musselwhite in his band in the 50th if he were only average as harp player? I can't believe this. And if I listen to Charlie Musselwhite I hear an artist really knowing his instrument. Listen to his blues CD's and LP's and you will hear his knowledge of the classics, which he is one of meanwhile. That's nothing someone must like him for, but it's self disqualifying to call him mediocre.
People disliking the song or this kind of music for political reasons? Open your mind and your ears. Noone must like latin american music or everythingl of this continent, or should I say planet, of music. Like the history of blues this music has a history of love to life, dancing and struggling for freedom. So what? Pity for those who can't listen. There's good and bad music in every tradition.
"De gustibus non est disputandum." You can't discuss taste. There's music I don't like. So for me everybody has the right to dislike this song. But respect for the musicians working hard a life long over their music should be no problem imo.
Your heroic Solidarity with La Revolucion against the Running Dogs of Yankee Imperialism has not gone unnoticed, comrade. Your reward awaits you in the Socialist Workers Paradise. (A 1958 Chevy, runs good. No AC.)
Say what you want about the American paranoia about Cuba that is left over from a bygone era when their relationship with the now-defunct USSR could have possibly caused your "democracy" some pain . . . the fact is that most Americans don't really understand Cuba and the wonderful people that live there. The fact that an offer like this would go without an answer while hundreds of people died is a testament to the bullshit ego that Bush had to hold onto just so he didn't run afoul of his father, his Vice President, and the Republican party.
It's truly sad when people can't just be people. Real lives that matter.
Bad ratings because it sounds Cuban?
Anyways - in our space ship we be dancing ...
A tradition of any Criollos game was to play the Panamanian tamborito song "¿Qué te parece, cholito?" (a social commentary song that attained hit status in Puerto Rico when one of its authors, Panamanian organ player Avelino Muñoz, moved to the island)

But in a good way
para que sepan todos que las cholitas son las más dulces y mejores en la cama.

Musselwhite and Mayall are definitley better than mediocre and as far as having excellent backing musicans thats Mayalls strong suit, his bands are what makes him so great, Charlie does blow a better harp probably. You talk greats then you have to include both Sonny Boy Williamsons, Big Walter Horton, Junior Wells and Butterfield are on that list. There are quite a few players now that don't get mentioned one is Rod Piazza from the west coast and he has a hell of a band, The Mighty Flyers. Another is Kim Wilson from the Fabulous Thunderbirds and the list goes on oops forgot Howlin' Wolf. That being said this isn't my favorite Musselwhite tune.
Don't forget Little Walter.
HarrO, at least no one claims that John Popper from Blues Traveler is a great harmonica player anymore. Couldn't stand his "style."
agree 100%. Why do I keep hearing these repetitive, el-sucky songs?!

Charlie Musselwhite Honeyboy by ~dablueshound

They either started different songs or started in the wrong key. I know Honeyboy through steve arvey, Honeyboy is an old school gentleman and his fret work is still great.
From the article linked to above:
"When Hurricane Katrina ripped through the southern United States in August 2005, the authorities were overwhelmed and the governor of Louisiana, Kathleen Babineaux Blanco, appealed to the international community for emergency medical aid. The Cuban government immediately offered assistance to New Orleans and to the states of Mississippi and Alabama, also affected by the storm, and promised that within 48 hours 1,600 doctors, trained to deal with such catastrophes, would arrive with all the necessary equipment plus 36 tonnes of medical supplies. This offer, and another made directly to President George Bush, went unanswered. In the catastrophe at least 1,800 people, most of them poor, died for lack of aid and treatment."
What callous indifference, what mindblowing arrogance on the part of the US government!
That aside, great tune from Charlie!

I think the facts are pretty clear. Cuba offered assistance and they were ignored. Cuba is recognised by most of the world in offering medical assistance to disadvantages countries. . . with the exception of the USA who don't seem to report it for some reason.
Great tune btw!
I feel like this song is played every time I tune-in to RP. I'm getting more than a little tired of the monotony of the song.
On a positive note... I like the harmonica and Charlie's Johnny Cash impersonation but sadly, that's about it.

Personally, I think that's fascinating and entirely relevant.
What "facts," by the way, are in question?
