It shines down on everyone
I count the days, I count the days
Winter comes and daylight fades
Where are you now, where are you now
Friends I've seen go to the clouds
This song always reminds me of my friend who passed away in 2010, he was only 22.
sorry. peace ✌️
my wife and I own a small bike shop in Kentucky. Its our slow season and the shop is just deserted. When this song came on I walked over and she gave me a hug. Turned into a slow dance through the vocals. What a treat. Thanks Bill.
It’s in my dreams to have a small business of any sort like a little restaurant or a cool bar in Italy where I can just play radio paradise and let the public enjoy what Bill has to offer. I’m sure your shop is even more cool because of RP. Great story, god bless you.
BTW - thank you all for the wonderful comments, I am touched, I'll shall have to have a sit down!
This is such great news Mr. Redfern! The very best of luck with the new album. From what I've heard so far it sounds incredibly inspiring :) Best wishes from Devon (UK)

I bought this album after hearing this here. Such a shame he gave up on music, such a talent!
don't worry I'm back! - just loving all these comments, I am humbled!

oh, man. i'm sorry.
it's making me remember what a tough thing i had to do on monday after work: put my 17 yr old siamese cat down. she loved the sun. she followed it around the house. these lyrics got me.
Just boosting this lovely post (accompanies by this lovely song).
I read this comment ages ago. It is so lovely and touching that I can't help but think of your comment every time this song comes on.
Thanks again. Checking in nearly another decade later. Still appreciate your kind comment. -bike coach Dave
That´s exactly how I fell too.
I stop whatever I´m doing only to close my eyes and let me dream a little good dream
Same here....enough to go 8 to 9 today...although we just had a few days in the 80s here, and today looks like a regular mid-June day in the PNW....so maybe I Miss the Sun is why...still...Long Live RP!!

The theme of loving the sun and counting the days dreading the loss of the sun in the winter strikes a chord with our way of life here. In fact, maybe this should become the Alaska state song. I like it better than the current Alaska Flag Song.
Still a 9 for me.
One of my favs....so cool...

NOT THAT BIG... I've been listening to Zappa's stuff (and it's huuuuuge) for quite a bunch of years and... no, IMHO, maybe little influence but moods are SO different.
Still a 9 for me.

If I had come from England, I would have started New England some place with a better climate...
The music reminds me a little of Oliver Nelson, who was a saxophonist and arranger. He played and arranged a lot of tunes in non-standard time and often played a "spitty" sounding sax like this has. I imagine this guy has a lot of influences though. Nice tune.
Today was my day off... but I must work anyway... boring... but Bill makes my day a better day thanks to his selection.
Bill.
sounds good, feels good
If you like this style you could listen to jazz artists like Paul Desmond. I tried to upload one track from him sounding more or less this relaxed and chill, but it was immediately "sorry".
You are called "New England" for a reason.

Just made my morning with this comment! LOL!!!

It was pretty hard to get his music, but I managed to get one album. It was not worth listening to. This song stands out.
Discovered here thanks to Bill a few years ago.
Nice comment.

Merci Bill pour m'avoir fait découvrir ce sublime morceau.
Sums up my mood this sunny day...
One can -almost- believe that Spring/Summer is here... Almost...
Nice mellow music to slide into Friday... Thanks
...... very nice
Very!
...... very nice
Perfect song to make me look up from my computer, stare out the window at the snow and cold, and just...breathe.
Love this one. Upon relistening I must note there are a lot of similarities to Zappa's work on Grand Wazoo, especially Blessed Relief.
Give it a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIO5uIq2TTI
An old post here 'BikeCoachDave' but wanted to acknowledge your thread. It might be awhile before we hear from Jon again, but I've not lost hope in his ability to achieve amazing things once again. He's currently on a well deserved break with his family and living life East of London City in the UK.
good shout:

Sometimes I like it when a sax player gets that raw "spitty" sound instead of cleaning out the valve.
Funny thing is that I am inside most of the time when I hear it.
Same here in Nevada - gorgeous sky. I like this song quite a lot (and if I was in Oregon, I'd like it even more...)
I never knew this lovely lady outside of the comments she left behind for us all, but I miss her. Somehow, I think she is here in Oregon with us...and also with you, wherever you are.
Bumped into Mr. Redfern in Canary Wharf in London recently. Happily married with a new born son and life appears to be treating him well.....
I saw I was at an 8 and was drawn to looking at the reviews because I always love when this comes on......had to boost it to at least a 9, still a hair short of "perfection" for me.
Whenever I think of the blessing Radio paradise has been in my life I think of this gem of a song. Like many other songs here, this is one I surely would never have heard was it not for RP yet it’s one ive grown to love and enjoy. Thank you Radio Paradise
I agree wholeheartedly! This is another of those wonderful pieces that have helped define RP for me over the last two decades. I love the variety here, but there are songs that form a sort of ‘core’ of my RP experience. I’d add Deep Red Bells and the live version of Majesty as other examples. Thinking about it, it’s probably a pretty long list.
