Sonic Youth inspired?  Sounds great.

Echo and the Bunnymen anyone? I'm hearing strong echos from different bands in the mix and it's so good
Geez- all the times I heard this I was thinking Sonic Youth...
This has got serious Sonic Youth vibes. I like it.

They are in the Manual!

This is one of many songs over the decades paying homage to the iconic krautrock track "Hallogallo" by the band NEU! (the exclamation point is theirs, not mine). For other tracks inspired by this source, check out "Doors Unlocked and Open" by Death Cab for Cutie, "Rope & Summit" by Junip, and "Signify" by Porcupine Tree.

Thanks for the tips. Hallogallo is a great groove also. I'll check out the rest. Lay down a bass line and everyone sort of orbits that.
can we have the lyrics, too?
Galaxie 500. Luna. Yo La Tengo. These are compliment comparisons.
...serious "the Church" vibes... very cool.

Sucks I never heard this even once back in the 1990s... radio stations instead decided I needed to hear Semi-Charmed Life and Under The Bridge 10 times a day.

Great Tune!  Thanx To RP, Now you get to hear it in FLAC. That is why we come here.  Thanx RP!

sounds like the Church, if produced by Jonny Marr... great vibe!

I think a glass of wine is in order. People compare things in an effort to understand them. Understanding - give it a try.

i thought so too!
I think they would have been much better off naming their band toaster oven

Random post.
Pasifika New Zealanders - Wikipedia

cool artwork, the seismic vibe tickles me geo cockles
Nice. Reminiscent of Pavement/Sonic Youth.
Nice Neu! vibe at the start from the Exeter lads
Death cab anyone??
And Neu!

I like this- I'm a strong believer, however, in the power of repetition. As an aside, this song does not sound like 1996 to me.
And a touch of Yo la Tengo.
Thinking Dean Wareham. Luna. Galaxie 500. Good groove.
I love the shushing water-wave sounds at the beginning and end of this; the rhythms and harmonics struck at perfect intervals throughout continue that perception of fluids in motion. Cool!
I'm reminded of a city along the coast of North California. I was driving along highway 1 seeing some of the most gorgeous seaside cliffs, mountains, and beaches, wind surfers, seagulls and glittering waters of an endless ocean. It was one of the most gorgeous drives I've ever been on and I'm sure this song refers to a place in Europe, but the same name and the lyrics definitely speak to me of this idealic moment last year
Good Tune!!
church?
groove - just oodles of groove
An uncannily similar baseline melody as All Lined Up by Shriekback - just slowed down a bit!

Shades of Sonic Youth.
If you like this try "Spiritualized"  That's what I thought this was, some deep track I don't know, and I know them all.  but this is quite nice.

Expect him to belt out "Lips Like Sugar!" any time...
Okay the vocal is pretty dry, but the band is hot.  What a groove.
great upbeat track

What the ...??

I listen to an online station originating in the US and hear, for the first time ever, bands from within 20 miles of where I live...

This is NOT the first... Ben Howard is another one and it was RP that got me to listen to Muse again.

Didn't realise the South West had so much more great music - must send RP a few more suggestions though!!

This got a lot of play on RP when I first started listening here but then it fell out of rotation. Good to hear this again.
Really great tune!  Rest of the album ... not this.
another terrible band name
We used to call itPacsypilis Ca. In the 80s if i spelled it wrong it got me.
Hey Bill,

How about some Spacemen 3 or Spiritualized?

But this is pretty good in the meantime.

Waiting patiently.

Reminds me of a band called the Feelies ( a band I knew nothing about but I had an LP of theirs that I listened to a lot.) Must try and find some of their stuff. Not bad.
Feelies! Feelies! I thought it was a Feelies song for sure. Listened to them a ton back in the day. Along with all the other bands these folks are getting compared to. But I really thought I was hearing the Feelies!

Trance inducing. Great. Buddhist-like.

Echo & the Bunnymen ..  agree with older posts

Beginning sounded like they were going to launch into that Steely Dan song...
Very Yo La Tengo....really dig this tune.
Very much a late 90s vibe to this tune.  Nice.
Great tune. {#Bananajam}
Tedious.  I'm going to watch a video of a Michael Phelps race set to Super Mario music instead.
"Like waves on a beach, your heart is mine"   Pretty lame lyrics.
pls wake me when it finishes {#Sleep}

No, it doesn't have "exact same song structure", but there are a few spots that sound pretty similar.
Clearly some Yo La Tengo influence....very nice.
Monotonous.
Does this have the exact same song structure as the Beatles "She Said She Said" that played next? (Only difference being the crappy singing and mediocre musicianship.)
Find another source, dude, if you're so unhappy. Sonic Youth thing going on here is very cool. So, there.

Way too derivative. I'd rather listen to the original (Echo & the Bunnymen).

when does this end
You nailed it. And then 'Ocean Drive' rather echoes the Bunnymen album title 'Ocean Rain'...

May be derivative. This is still MOST EXCELLENT!
