(I ran from the tide, won't let you hide, won't let you hide)

I drop beats from this processed meat
For a conversation, a meditation, and
I cut waves like some unborn sage
Just like terrorists on a day of rest singing

(I ran from the tide, won't let you hide, won't let you hide)

I break bones, stealing mobile phones
And I'm cutting deals for these homeless meals
Making idle threats using Chinese burns
As you load my head with the grateful dead, singing

(I ran from the tide, won't let you hide, won't let you hide)
(I ran from the tide, won't let you hide, won't let you hide)

Excellent!! I never heard of them before.  Thank You RP!
Kasabian's first album hits exactly the right balance between classy and trashy.  Most of their other albums fall over into the trashy side.
Processed Meats are not good for you.

Those that think they are hearing the Artic Monkeys obviously haven't heard enough by this innovative, lively and exciting band!  Google and watch their live sets from Glastonbury a couple of years ago and see why they are very well liked here.

I have zero rules when it comes to who what where when or why a song was created. If it makes me move to the groove, it is going to be to my liking regardless of anything. Music is amazing like that. There really are no rules, just personal enjoyment.
Highly overrated band.

Yep named after the Manson's getaway driver... the music is so much better live they do a great show. {#Dancingbanana}

Comparisons to Stone Roses and PWEI are a good thing. Wonder if they named themselves after Manson's little friend Linda?
I wanted to be the stone roses when i grew up once too...Can't blame 'em really. Nice tune.

That's funny. I was just thinking "hey, a new Arctic Monkeys tune", and it wasn't. Of course, I like it, either way.
hmmmm....wonder how many other free iTunes downloads have made it to the playlist?

you are correct...this song is VERY Stone Rosy! Yes, ,that is a good thing. SlamAdams wrote:

I heard a song from this disc yesterday that I gave a 9. This gets a 3.
"as you load my head with the grateful dead singing"... what does anyone think this means in the context of the song?
I like this song. In fact, I like the whole album. But it plays much better in my car with the volume cranked up than it does at my desk, where I'm forced to listen at a reasonable volume.
Needs more processing. I'd give it a 6.

Good God Yes, buy used. I usually click right to Amazon, and if it is around $5 used, I buy it. Rip it to computer, shelve the original. Nothing wrong with used. Never got a bad one. Knock wood.
On repeat listen this goes from a 7 to a 4. and I like Charlatans and Happy Mondays. kaspur3 wrote:

Well, you can download their albums on Yahoo - pretty good deal at $5/month. Great combo - Radio Paradise to bring you the new music and Yahoo to get the music on your MP3 player!
UnHappy Mondays?

Bad move, Kasabian. Tsk Tsk Tsk.

It wasn't necessarily their decision...could've been the label OR the destributor, either without the group's consent.

What we really need is some sort of global wireless internet connectivity...besides many other sweet applications, we could then have network cards in our cars receiving a signal anywhere we go. Then I'd slap a Mac Mini in my dashboard and send the audio to my stereo...it'd be RP in my car almost all the time, baby!
this deserves bananas...

I do. My mp3 player, XMMS, will do something nice. It will, instead of sending the music to my audio card, send it to a file (wav, uncompressed format). I then just compress the file back to mp3 and burn it to a disk. I am running Fedora Core 4 (Linux) though, not crappy Windoze.... I use lame to compress the file. On Windows, I also recommend Exact Audio Copy (EAC) for ripping your own CDs. Oh, I have an Alpine deck in my car that plays MP3s. You could put the music on an IPod just as well though
For some reason, this flows well from Morricone's GBU theme...anyone else feeling that?
I wish I could listen to Radioparadise in my car.
you know i really liked this song ........the 48billion-ca-jillion times i heard it. but this is not all RP's fault. college radio is running this song into the ground. STILL.

Second Kasabian of the day.
these guys have pretty interesting ideas here and there on this album. Im looking forward to future work from them
'Processed', hmmm, that's an appropriate word for this song and band. I like this truth in advertising trend of late !
Reminiscent of a possible hybrid between Beck and The Stone Roses
I like the CD, too. Not as much as I hoped to based on tracks like this and "Ovary Stripe", but still it's money well spent, IMO.
Kasabian is the first band RP played that I went out and bought the CD. Good call although several of you disagree with my COOL analysis of their good tunes.
"...I'm a loser, baby, so why don't you kill me..."
so i went on a RP inspired CD buying splurge (through the amazon link of course) and have since been trying to listen to it all. anyways this is one of the disks I got. Very good stuff, solid, different tempo's and feels to each of the songs and solid throughout. only one thing, and not Kasabian's fault I'm sure. The copy protection on this CD F***ing sucks. makes it impossible to put a decent rip on your hardrive. the one it lets you have freezes my winamp half the time. ho hum, damn corporations

Me too! I had not heard of either of these two groups before RP. I bought the MM&W CD (through the RP link to itunes) after hearing a few tracks here. Thanks!

CharlaStone Rosa-K?
to think, the best tracks on the album, "club foot" and "reason is treason," haven't made it into rotation yet. these guys are the real deal.
if you're going to be entirely contrived (stone roses) you better be good - and these guys pull it off. good stuff.
Wow I thought this was Beck at first...The rhythmns at the beginning of this song sound a lot like a song off Guero.

Stone Roses signature sound was more conventional psychedelia, unlike the Charlatans which infused a lot of funkiness into the sound. But the Stone Roses could funk it up when they wanted to -- give "Fool's Gold" or the second half of "I Am the Resurrection" a spin. pedro wrote:

Obviously not -- this guy actually makes an attempt to sing, and in tune for that matter.
Hey thought I had missed another album by the Charlatans.
I heard some other cut of theirs here, but wasn't that thrilled with it. But this I really like. 9.

Sounds A LOT like 'Me Fear the Reaper' by Pop Will Eat Itself

Generally not greatly impressed with Kasabian, though they are by today's standards a competent, innovative act. But I like this piece for its retro-modern psychedelia ala Stone Roses. Nice piece. EDIT: Platypus wrote:

Yeah -- what he said. Most of Kasabian isn't so Stone Roses-esque, but this does evoke some Madchester psychedelia, of which I've made no secret of being a huge fan.
Here I am at 2am dancing at work! Thanks \:D/

So far, I have enjoyed everything I've heard from this band. This song is no exception. Great stuff!

Beck. That song was off one of his first solo albums and since then every album has been strong. Kasabian is a new band and I like the direction they're headed.
Stone Roses meets XTRMNTR-era Primal Scream. good stuff. 8)

I, too, had a similar feeling but was confusing it -- probably mistakenly -- with something by Nirvana. Oh well, all you kids' music sounds alike to me.

I was thinking of Urban Dance Squad, because of the sort of angry singer/rapper and hip hop/rock influences. More commercial but not at all with a similar impact and that intense, IMO.
