Rolling down the road,
Going nowhere,
Guitar packed in the trunk...
Somewhere around mile marker 112,
Papa started hummin' the funk...
I gotta jones in my bones before we know,
We were singing this melody...
Stop the car pulled out the guitar,
Halfway to New Orleans...
Said take me home...
Take me home...
Could feel the sun about to rise,
When I realized we had nothing to fear...
It's just me and my daddy and a kid named Cope,
Making music that nobody would hear...
And then the sun let up and it split the night,
Spillin' over our jubilee...
Ten thousand cars by the side of the road,
Groovin' far as the eye can see...
Said take me home...
Take me home...
Said take me home...
Said take me home...
This Greyhound is delta bound mama,
Baby boy done finally found,
Said this Greyhound is delta bound mama,
Baby boy done finally found his way home...
Said take me home...
Here we go,
Hot damn you should have felt the groove,
Like I was swimming in a sea of soul...
The sun was rising and the day was hot,
And we was all about to lose control...
My daddy turned his face up towards the sky,
And I knew that there was nothing to lose...
I felt the crowd breathe in and I closed my eyes,
And we disappeared into the groove...
Said take me home...
Said take me home...
Take me home...
Said take me home...
Straight from the water...
Straight from the water, children...
(repeat)
You don't know nothin' about this...
Take me home...
Said take me home...
(repeat)

Love it! Soulful and bluesy.
The name looked familiar so I checked out this years line up for the Big Blues Bender in Las Vegas. Hot Damn, Marc will be one of the many artists appear during the 4 day festival. Another new artist to make sure to see.

The lyrics are Modern day Cajun at it's best!
Marc Brossard's reputation as a man who gives back to the community has been cut and laid down in ink.
Well done Marc!
Well done RP! for finding and bringing this to us, your humble listeners.

“I was at an after party for Citizen Cope in New York,” Broussard recalls, “and he hired this girl from Atlanta to do some of the catering. She made a gumbo with chicken and sausage and shrimp; now that’s pretty sacrilegious coming from where I’m from! You don’t do chicken, sausage and seafood in the same gumbo. It’s just not cool!”
No kidding; chicken doesn't belong in gumbo.
And, the shrimp could've easily been replaced with crawfish! Love that Cajun cuisine, any way it's served, mostly! Am a bit antsy about relocating back down there! Great folks, great food and, clearly, some really good music!

First heard this when a regional healthcare system used the hook in a TV campaign. Worked really well.
Classic album. Marc has a gift!
One of my favorites, thanks to RP!
Solid 9
I dig this song!
How's the rest of the album?

Boy...this is some serious "swamp pop"!

Too close to call a coincidence... but thanks for turning me on to Gram Rabbit! Though it would appear that Marc Broussard's "Home" was released a few years before "Dirty Horse," somebody definitely 'borrowed' from somebody else.

Absolutely love this song. I can’t not dance to it. I found the rest of the album to be horribly dull, but I’m glad Marc made this song.

My story: I was in a horrible funk - a bad depression. I hadn't danced, sung, or even laughed out loud for months. And one day, while my brother was out of town, I was using his computer, and listening to KINK.FM. They played this song, and something inside me snapped. I started to dance to it, and then I was grinning, and then laughing at myself. It was the best five minutes of my life, right then.
I love this song in ways I can't even express in words. Marc Broussard may have saved my life, and he didn't even know it. I've heard other things by him, and he can still make me grin like a village idiot without a village.
Lovelovelove his music.

Just a good, swampy song!
Love this guy's voice... so full of soul and guts... boogie down...
He's playing here next week at a club downtown and I'm looking forward to being there.
Could this really be 7 years old?
Saw him "accidentally," as an opening act. When Bonnie Raitt came onstage, she said, "How can anyone follow that?", and invited him to play with her band for the rest of the evening.
He's good, and I don't understand why he isn't more popular.

Stompety-stomp-stomp! Feet, do yo' thang! Love the near subsonic background chorus too. This is growing on me.
