Waiting for Santana to come in.
this is better than that
Always brings a good mood... reminds me of The Doors' incredibly groovy, inspired accompaniment to Mojo's amazing poetry on American Prayer; ... "The music was new black polished chrome, and came over the summer like liquid night, The DJs took pills to stay awake and play for seven days..."
Long Live RP and
Long Live the Lizard King!!
And CoJo too
Great music from Led Zeppelin, Little Feat, Steely Dan, Santana, Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, Joe Jackson, etc. I'll take the 70's over most decades musically. BTW, fuck Nixon.
Please add all the others to the list: Dead, Dylan, Joni M, Van M, Neil Young, Stones, Aerosmith, Allmans, Lynrd Skynryd, Wilile N, Bruce S, BTO, Pink Floyd, Yes, Nektar, Queen, Fleetwood, etc. etc. etc.
It was a huge buffet table of music. So many genres and so many bands. We all got spoiled on it.
Today..what you got? Boiled potatoes and lukewarm water (e.g., Foo Fighters and Arcade Fire).
OutSTANDing Latin soul. Groove all over the place. Love this.
I Agree! GREAT TUNE!! I had never heard of them prior to this! Thanx RP!
You are clairvoyant
The cover photo or the music?

Maybe stop defining music by decades. The evolution of music is a continuum not isolated blocks of time. Also bear in mind most people's knowledge of what the music of a decade consisted of usually was limited to what was played on commercial radio (especially pre-internet). 90% of the great music of the 80s wasn't played on 99% of radio stations.
Ack. Never understood the 70s nostalgia kick. It was a decade of cultural, economic, and political hangovers. Disco, stagflation, Nixon...no thanks.

Greatest........decade........evah!!!!!
Uhhh...I respectfully ask that you explain that declaration. There were some good things about the 70s—American culture was still evolving independently of mass-media commercialism, so if you had a brain you could see how much bullshit the TV was trying to feed you. But to me it felt like the country had run out of energy and direction. Jimmy Carter was right when he said in speech televised in prime time that the country was suffering from a general malaise and crisis in confidence (even though he was part of the problem).
There were some great movies and music in the 70s, I'll admit.

Wow, what a stab from the past. This group even played our small town in the early 70's. Remember it well. Great stuff, rivals of Santana that never went as far, but great music nonetheless. Sorry to hear of Espinosa's passing. Viva la Raza! Down with Jan Brewer and all the idiot Arizona Republicans that just passed Senate Bill 1070. Racism though is not alive in Arizona, just have a bunch of misguided politicians trying to solve the enormous drug cartel problem south of the border with the wrong tools.

You may be onto something: check out RockinBlueVoodoo's post below.
I usually love (prefer) music older than I am, with one special exception: nearly the entire decade 1970-1979.
This genre does nothing for me, either...but I'm afraid we're in the minority here.
neat.

It was the 1970s. If you were there, you understand. If you're too young to have been there, count yourself lucky.

Maybe even a C3. I'd still give the edge to (Santana's) Greg Rolle, but this is definitely groovy.

I liked it. Your mileage may vary, but I liked it.
Having heard this music many times before this airing on RP, it was easy for me to rate it. So, no, I'm not daft, but you are an asshole.
Love it. Just love it.
