You took off in the dead of night
But before you did, got your hair combed right, yeah
The neighborhood watch knows the score
And they're knockin' at your door, let 'em knock some more

They're sayin' you need a little protection
But followin' the leader gonna turn you off the religion

It's comin' down, the hardest cut
World wars in your mind
Long day into night, the hardest cut
We live on a knife
Here it come now, here it come now
Here it is, the hardest cut

I took off in the dead of night
But before I did, got my affairs in order and my boots on
The hallelujah choir needs a score
And they're knockin' at my door, let 'em knock some more

They're sayin' I need a little direction
But followin' the leader gonna turn me off the religion

Oh, it's comin' down, the hardest cut
World wars in my mind
Long day into night, the hardest cut
We live on a knife
Here it come now, here it come now
Here it is, the hardest cut

Ah, ooh

Oh, it's comin' down, the hardest cut
World wars in my mind
Long day into night, the hardest cut
Who's takin' the life?
Here it come now, here it come now
Here it is, the hardest cut

Yes, all their stuff is quirky and catchy. Check out The Fitted Shirt, The Way We Get By, All the Pretty Girls Go to the City and I Turn my Camera On just to start. I started listening to them in 2001 but they started in Austin back in 1996.. Britt Daniel is a genius.

Lines in the Suit/Fitted Shirt is one of my favorite two track combo of all time.

Spoon has been releasing incredible music for 30 years to little fanfare outside of the die-hards. They fucking SEND IT live, too.
Spoon is hit or miss for me.  This tune is a HIT!!   Thanx RP!

Girls Can Tell in my Top 10 albums.  Time and place.  I wish RP played songs off of it.

William: I dare you to play the hardest button to button after the hardest cut.
Rather dull and unoriginal.
Have to weigh in that this is now being overplayed - what about the other great tracks on this album?

I celebrated 2-3-23.  Did you?

Wow! It's 2022 already? I had no idea!

That was SO last year, bro.
They've been listening to way, way, way too much Black Keys...no thanks
Looking at Wikipedia, apparently there's no band called The Forks.

Seems that would be a good way to get scooped up as the opening act for Spoon.
The Hardest Cut - Elon Musk's sense of inadequacy has become a significant economic factor.
Foot tapper for sure. And I dig that short solo.
Fantastic album start to finish. If you haven't seen these guys live, you're missing out. They rock!

Funny .. this sounds a lot like Don't Fear The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult. Did some stuff get filed incorrectly?

You must be under the influence of poor quality recreational pharmaceuticals.

Finally! A complete explanation of the 20th century.
When this song was first released, I heard it on the radio. When it was over the DJ declared something to the effect of "that was awesome! Let's listen to it again right now!" and proceeded to play it twice in a row. And I enjoyed it just as much the second time around.
Got into this album over the weekend - it's great overall; for any Spoon fans out there. They have been on quite a roll the past few albums IMHO
Spoon has kicked up the subwoofer to a whole new level on this one!
I like this song! Nice branch out from their core sound / catalog
Wow! Spoon with a Fork in it...Yep. Like the Edge on this one.
love the spoon!!

New Spoon! Cool!
Shockingly, I heard this this morning on my way to work on the Door County radio station I occasionally listen too.

Spoon is one of my favorite active bands still putting out music. The first I have heard this song and look forward to (hopefully) taking my 7 --> 8 or 9 on subsequent listens.

Exactly the same for me, 3rd listening now and going 7 to 8 now.
LLRP!!
Bill, I really love how you stitch the language of these songs into what is happening in the world, perfectly blend the outgoing keys with the next song and give nods to influences with follow ups of the original sound. You are a mix artist!
wow- an 8 for me on first hearing...

I´m hoping Bill will play this next Tuesday on its release date...

First time I've heard this. These guys are really evolving. I like it.
YEAH, BABY! Endlessly digging SPOON! Thanks, RP! As usual, another ripping jam with utterly unique delivery, impeccable production and sound. Love it! Can't wait to hear whatever's next!
Excellent!
Good tune!
