Sailing the Sunset Strip, I'm a bit of a king
Granny would take a trip, I've been bending the strings
Got hammers in both my hands, such a delicate touch
They say I'm from Amsterdam, does that make me Dutch?

Please don't remember me, for what I did last night, oh
Please don't remember me
Lord and children
Please don't remember me, it's only 1980
It's only 1983

Smoking the reefer, feeling my own light
My brother's a keeper, I married a TV wife
The devil's Camaro, parked in the high school lot
A little sombrero 'cause teacher was way too hot

Please don't remember me, for what I did last night, oh
Please don't remember me
Listen Lord now
Please don't remember me, it's only 1980
It's only 1983

Tell my love "But leave me never"
Can't complain about the weather
Snowing at the rainbow, have a ball
Cut my teeth down at the whiskey
GTO's tried to kiss me
One more song, they have seen it all

Please don't remember me, for what I did last night, oh
Please don't remember me
What'd I say Lord?
Please don't remember me, it's only 1980
It's only 1983
Please don't remember me, for what I did with David
You know I'm talkin' David Lee
Am I ready?
Please don't remember me, for what I did last night, oh
I guess I played a Flying V

Too dumb to give a  reason? That's annoying.

God I hate this band, but I love RP and wouldn't want it to change!

Seems like RP favors later RHCP. Would also love to hear some of the stuff up to/through Blood Sugar Sex Magic. I'll never forget picking up the cassette of Freaky Styley and hearing these guys when they were young and off the wall. The later stuff doesn't do it for me, but of course that's just my bias.

By the Way was some of their best work IMO

Oh, I get it from comment below: Eddie VH's point of view. TV wife,.. I'm slow

and John's fuzzy, screechy, wailing guitar.  nice combo on the outtro.

It's definitely mine!

Ditto that guitar!
I was already grinning, and then, that line, "The devil's Camaro parked in the high school lot" made me LOVE it. Back then, I sure was LIVING IT --had Van Halen wailin' on the Stereo 8-Track, too! I was in the mean green Cutlass, but my buddy Danny was in The Devil's Camaro! Way to spice things up again, guys ~ dig it!
This is like a RHCP lyrical haiku to Eddie VanHalen.
Love this trip to 1983!!!
Red Hot Chili Pepper guitar is so interesting :D
I have never heard this song before but recognized after 2 seconds that this has to be RHCP
The past 3 times I heard this track here on RP it came on after some epic musical pieces so after those somehow this track just doesn’t seem as mind blowing as might meant to be.

Me not neither.

Yawn.
Flea needs a new band.
and, and, and.... there's nice album cover art

I love the refrain of this. Such a unique song. On the other hand i know an italian band that sounds very similar. But i can hear more of this stuff anytime!
The guitar work on this one just doesn't resonate with me.

Starts to get in the way at some point IMO
Wasn't ready for another red hot album and i'm late to discover it was release months ago...
Did not yet be used to the last last one...
i think this  one kicks ass...a great bass/lead guitar/drum jam.

kind of different for them.   Good for them.
these guys are really into their own sound .. kind of like someone watching themselves dance in the mirror - feels a bit too self indulgent for me. but i know many are into this...
A RHCP fan, but this is not really working for me - possibly more listens will help?
not a big RHCP fan but liking this one. For you fans of them, 60 Minutes just did a good story on them and their longevity.

Have to agree on the guitar solo. Frusciante was a huge influence on me picking up a guitar when I was as a kid. He has often proved he is more than capable on his instrument of choice, but this solo/noise doesn't add to this song. I found myself heading for the skip button upon my first listen. As a supposed 'ode' to the late Eddie Van Halen he could/should have pulled something truly magical out of his bag.
The song probably would be good, if the sound engineering was better produced.
It really does sound disconnected
Die guten Zeiten sind vorbei.

Agree. That's RHCP for ya!
Uaaah boring

I agree strongly with the  A+ for Flea.  I think the guitar solo might warrant a bit more than a B- for Frusciante.  But yeah, it's like the band was playing a rocking song in one room and Kiedis was "singing" some half baked lyrics in another room that was in an entirely different city and they just put one track on top of the other with no regard for whether they actually went together.

*meh*
I keep trying to like them….I do. But I never much cared for RHCP….and this zany tune just reinforces that.
I just don’t get into their groove.
Music is simply profound. One person’s likes & dislikes can be miles apart from another’s. To each his/her own!
Long Live RP!
Flea - A+, Anthony Kiedis - F.  Everyone else B-.
It's about Eddie van Halen, but I'm not really sure about what he's trying to say, maybe I'm missing some context, anyone have an idea?
this rocks
That bass is all over the place.  In a good way.
weak :)
Gave it a one, solely for the ability to skip.
This is such sh*t.

Retire already, please.
This is GOOD.
If trebel could get drunk, this is what it would sound like.
Flea rocks the bass on this and every song

Look! It is Monty Python! Spam spam spam spam...
This seems like the RHCP that many of us know and love...was kind of disappointed with the stuff I heard from the last project, but I'd turn this up...bangin'...

Really like the lyrics... sounds very RHCP otherwise, which is pretty good!
