The Puerto Blues Fest was a huge success this year. Since my last post we have had 8 more concerts with the wrapup party last night. My new friend is Neal Chapman. A professional musician by all standards. First off, he's the musical director and guitarist for Buffy St Marie. He has several side projects in Canada including AutoCondo and Zed Head. Neal is very aggressive guitar player and really put on a show. He and I have been jamming on a beach just north of town and right out of National Geographic.

We also had Rick Richards from Georgia. He was an original member of the Georgia Satilites. Got A Little Change In My Pocket. The dance crowd really liked him. Played alot of Stones and Beatle coves and luckily didn't play any GS music. Had a great acoustic jam with him at the Split Coconut and played Southern Rock all night long. We should have some videos on Youtube soon. After Rick came the Flyin As out of Austin and Matt Scofield from London. The As are a husband and wife dou that plays Texas jazzy swing. Matt is an acomplished blues player. Everyone has put on a fantastic show this year. The acoustic final show is tonight. Starting out wth RollEm Easy by Lowell George and Good Day For The Blues, Storyville. Leave on Sunday and will want to be back in Mexico by Thursday. Plan your trip for next year now. You are really missing something. Buena suerte Hiatus

Mike played exteremly well last night. He plays a lot like Albert Lee with a harder edge. Had a bit of scare early on. It actually started to sprinkle before the show. Unheard of this time of year. Cleared up quickly before my set. I did alright. A little too stoned but found my legs after two songs. Played Steve Earl's Goodbye and made several people in the audience cry. They must have been too stoned also. All in all, a great show and big sucess. Off to Rocca Blanca today. It is a beautiful beach 20K north of Puerto. Several of the blues players are jamming up there before they leave Saturday. Just anoher beautiful day in Paradise. Spliff

I am. {#Smile} I could make a fortune with a Bojangles franchise in SoCal. PM me if you'll have time for a mini RP meetup while you're here next week. We'll see what we can make happen.

Second week kicks off tonight. Last week was good. The new venue is like a prison yard but bathrooms work and there's plenty of cold beer. Tonight's concert is at Brad's Split Coconut. It is a garden party to intrduce Mike Branton, a blues player from the Tronto area. http://www.mikebranton.com/ Very nice guy. I am opening and am working on my playlist. Starting out with Nature's Way by Spirit and Lucky by Storyville. Want to include an acoustic version of Bridge of Sighs and will end up with Melissa and Roadhouse. The rest will be made up as I go depending on the crowd. Expect about 250 people. The weather has been weird the last two days. Not as bad as many of you are experiencing, but cool all the same. About 80 with a little cloud cover Whales have been spotted right off the coast and dolphins and rays are plentiful. Wish you all coul.d be here. Wish me luck. Adios Spliff

All new groups from Austin have joined our usual group of latin and Italian players. Got to jam with David Fech from South Saturn Delta band out of Philly. Very nice guy with a Hendrix jones. His wife sings in the band and they sound a lot like Joy of Cooking althogh they are very young. Played at King Bisquit this year. Enrico Cravellaro, the Italian Eric Clapton is as smooth as ever.. He is excellent and has a great touch. Dave Rotundo from Canada is also back and put on a fantastic show under the Mexican moon and stars. Weather is perfect this year and I will start playing more at the meet and greet parties. Very impressive lineup not to be missed. Mas lluego possible. Buena suerte Spliff
