Impressive, but not as impressive as the office
Yeah, turns out it's a Marine base. I was wondering if they shut down the whole coast or what.
One of the principles in my old company lives very near where the Obamas stay on Oahu. He says it really impacts traffic and generally makes it hassle when he's there. He's also a die hard conservative, and hates the Obamas, so I just chuckle when I see pictures of them on the islands.

I've had thoughts now and then about working a dive shop over there. I could easily get a 6 pak license and be useful and reliable enough to do okay at a shop. I wouldn't get rich, but I could probably pay the bills and spend a lot of time on the water. Show up, do a good job, and don't be a jerk, and you would be in the top 10% of employees in that industry.

Surprised there's not a "Thanks, Obama!" thread. Pretend this is it.
Longtime friend who's forever been a Republican party leader at the county and state level:

Heading out this morning for Cuba. Havana here I come.... no cell service, Internet, or credit card access.... but hopefully plenty of sunshine and music! Adios!"

Well, maybe. But not likely, since short excerpts are generally allowed. Say, in a book review for example. And he's not gonna be arrested for impersonating Al Green either. He's not bad, but he's no Reverend.
