I also always use "request return receipt" on any important email. That way if I get the receipt and they claim they never got it I'll know different. And if you never get the receipt you can assume they didn't.

There are legitimate problems but I also think email is an excuse for some people who are lazy or forgot to send the email..

"I sent that email" - you really have no way to check if the person sent the email other than their word.

I have "caught" several people I work with by asking them to resend it and then find material in the email that is dated so it couldn't possibly be sent on the original date.

There's something borked with the system...

I'm talking about an ISP that subscribes to a service to learn which emails to filter. Find that service and get off the spam list for lots of ISPs. This could be way out of date, I think it's been 5 years for me. But once I got thru filling out their form and they okay'd it, I didn't have a problem anymore.

I have a primary account thru my ISP that I have virtually no problems with.  I also have one on yahoo and another on google... I can't remember the password for either of them. {#Shifty}

Unless it's comcast... Then you just fill out their form and rant at them, then wait a few weeks and repeat when they muck it up again.

Maybe, but it won't be any of the standards based mail we have today, and so it will have issues. The thing that makes e-mail (and the internet in general) great is that it's an open field. Anyone can play if you just follow the standards. That unfortunately opens it up to people who will abuse the system.

I run an ISP and we have had customers who are Spammers. We shut them down when they violate the rules, but it is hard to monitor and parse all the time. When we take actions they make new strategies. Refer back to my previous posts for some of the nitty gritty. There are legitimate mass marketers, but not too many and the bad guys make the most noise. There are bad ISPs as well < cough > Comcast < cough >. It's a constant effort to keep the system working right with asshats on both sides trying to munge things up in the name of a nickle.

Ooh!  Won't that work?    wait, no... The problem is not spam.  The problem is ISP blocking emails from my domain.

It's pretty important to have my domain as the "from" when I send mail... which means it's there, and ISPs block it.

I went through a huge turnover about 5 years ago when my small, local ISP was hacked, and I had to change my outgoing email from "rose@" to "contact@".  This REALLY confused people.

And now, since the domain is what gets flagged, I cant just change the name, I'd have to change the domain... and that's just not right, 'cause it's the most awesomest domain ever.

I could try changing my outgoing to "info@"  or "diva@" or something...  But I've had "rose@" for, like, 13 years now...

That didn't work for me. They blocked everythinh from my domain name...

This has been happening to me as well with legitimate email addresses being blocked by my ISP. My excite email account has declared Borders.com and Bank of America.com as spammers. OK I can see that later {#Lol}, but all I used to do was go into the Junk Mail box and un-classify them as legit. Now I don't even get them delivered to that box anymore.

WTFF!
