Was listening to KEXP and heard a nice song I doubt I've ever heard. Checked the playlist and it's Ann Peebles' I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down. Covered in the 80s by Paul Young (as 80s as it gets but there's some serious bass playing here)
So anyway, the playlist at KEXP usually has some DJ comments on the songs and so I clicked thru to read this interesting little piece on Ann and the song.
Duh. Silly me. I didn't google it because I thought it was My Morning Jacket.. so I googled that, and ended up on wikipedia 20 minutes or so. Funny how your brain works sometimes.
Thanks!
and for the record, I've apparently been to parties where Matt was playing. A friend of mine played drums with him back then, and sometimes still. Don't remember but that's what they tell me.

Are these the lyrics?:
I sailed a wild, wild sea climbed up a tall, tall mountain I met a old, old man beneath a weeping willow tree He said now if you got some questions go and lay them at my feet but my time here is brief so you'll have to pick just three
And I said What do you do with the pieces of a broken heart and how can a man like me remain in the light and if life is really as short as they say then why is the night so long and then the sun went down and he sang for me this song
See I once was a young fool like you afraid to do the things that I knew I had to do So I played an escapade just like you I played an escapade just like you I sailed a wild, wild sea climbed up a tall, tall mountain I met an old, old man he sat beneath a sapling tree He said now if you got some questions go and lay them at my feet but my time here is brief so you'll have to pick just three
And I said What do you do with the pieces of a broken heart and how can a man like me remain in the light and if life is really as short as they say then why is the night so long and then the sun went down and he played for me this song

I have a song stuck in my head that I've only ever heard on RP but for the life of me, I can't remember the title or name of the band. Please help me out!
Here's a few Clues:
If I recall correctly, the lyrics say something about traveling to see a wise man on a mountain and asking for advice. The wise man gives some advice that leads into the chorus that includes the line "What do you do with the pieces of a broken heart?" The wise mans advice takes the form of a story that ends up repeating the lyrics and chorus.
I think it sounded a bit like My Morning Jacket, but I couldn't find on their RP page.
It makes me feel like this:
