As far as this topic, meh lyrics are overrated. If I like the music, don't care about the lyrics and if I hate the music, good lyrics will not save it. Well written lyrics are nothing but the cherry on the top of a good song or buried in bad music I don't want to listen to anyway.

Yes, I would assume so. lol

I did. I did. I care enough about RP to voice my frustration about what I find problematic. Half the music I have in my offline music collection is due to RP. Peace.

The point is that music is it's own language. I get where you're coming from. You want to understand the words; the lyrics. You want them to speak to you in a way that you can relate to. I get that. But music in and of itself is an emotional relationship. The more complex forms speak with emotions and without words entirely. Sonic ars poetica. At once subtle, then perhaps not so much. It's all in there. You can't just reduce it to words though I realize one could listen to the most beautiful music ever produced (subjectively) and hate it for the conglomeration of words or subject matter constituting the song or motif.  If you can remove yourself from the equation entirely and try to inhabit where the artist is coming from, perhaps even find a translation to that Swahili song, you might grow into a greater awareness. If everyone could do that then we become...rather than decay. That's what peace is, isn't it? The sharing of this brief time we get to share the same sky together? Or am I just being a flower in a gun barrel?

I am talking about language. I stream RP pretty much all the time I am at my computer, which is always. Can't there be a "English & instrumental" channel? Sure, throw in a few songs a day in french or what not. But maybe that's about it?

The special thing about RadioParadise is the breadth of what is played. If hearing something unfamiliar causes conflict in your head, then what is the reason for that resistance, instead of acceptance?

Music I enjoy but can't understand:

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder (and ears).  For me, the beauty of RP is that it's introduced me to so many new artists and types of music that I would otherwise likely never have experienced, including World Music from Africa, South America, India, Mexico, The Caribbean, Europe, and on and on.  This has not only increased my awareness of many other types of music, but as a musician has influenced what I play and compose.

RP is a boutique yet global music stream on the World Wide Web with dedicated, contributing members & listeners from all over the world. There are no "channels", there is only RP, served up by the incomparable Bill & Rebecca Goldsmith from their home base in Paradise, California.  RP has evolved over the years (approaching 20!), and as has been suggested now features the PSD feature (play something different) to accommodate listers who would like to skip a song or even queue up to 6 songs of various types (mellow, groovy, rockin', or even songs a listener has previously  liked, or rated highly). You won't find that many places.

Perhaps you could also subscribe to Pandora or other music streams that allow you to create a stream of only the types of music you want to hear as alternative for those times you find RP so objectionable as to be causing you to "suffer".

Or maybe try opening your mind to the real beauty of RP and perhaps come to appreciate new & beautiful music from cultures around our world. It really can be quite exhilarating.

Nah, it isn't. Being able to comprehend it is more important. You did understand what I said in spite of (listen to)x2. Edited.

Funny thing. I am Indian. My mother tongue is Bengali. And after being in US for 20+ years, English is my first language. I also blame it on the British influence of India. It might blow your mind, but I understand very little of Hindi. Swahili even less {#Cheesygrin}

I don't think so. Wrong? In what sense? It's a purely subjective thing. You like what you like and otherwise. I'm not that interested to listen to the screaming satanic acid toilet metal or the brown skinned Cinderella Inuit crooners Bill plays all the time. The thinly sliced cheese sampled pablum rapper gruel coming out of deep sea ice radio is interesting but I wouldn't want to be trapped at a garden party with it. I hear what you're saying. However, if you are objectively hating in general of sources so called foreign and looking for encouragement and  support from music lovers around these parts you probably won't get much sympathy. Anyhow that's my short answer. Sometimes you just have to get your Swahili on. That's life. That's learning. That's awareness. Til then, just say no to hatred, and rock the cinder blocks!  Catfish? {#Good-vibes}
