I'm a total amateur at this kind of stuff. I've never taken a course in graphic design. But as a schlub who gets bombarded with ads and come-ons all the time, I say this works pretty damned well. It makes me wanna go to the farmers' market.

Rules are made to be broken, not worshipped.

I think you're right about such a "rule" applying to interior design (and his proportions were wrong as you pointed out).  I've never heard of any arbitrary "color proportion rule" in graphic design, and I've been in that field for over 40 years.  Oh, and that design looks great, Scott.

I think it looks great - visibility means more people see it, and more people who see it might actually read it, and more who read it might actually attend, etc.

As for The Branding, it's not a matter did I don't like it, the thing that really threw me off was the big huge blast of yellow in that back ground. There's a design rule that I learned with colors actually just recently. I didn't think it through on these particular Graphics but there's a rule of 50/30/20 as in proportions of color and the overwhelming yellow is what throws me.
As for the holes in the logos and things like that, that's just not something I've ever seen done.
I don't often think, "who the hell are you to be telling me..." but man, this guy.

This is excellent news to hear. Dio's car Fredo (so named because it gets no respect) is limping along, so we'll be looking at a new/new-to-me vehicle for me (and he'll get Fenway, my gently-used Mazda3). Good to know we should just be patient for another year-ish.

No one can get a good deal on anything right now. If you drive a hard bargain you can pay MSRP, but others will bid you up.

At some point in the next year, the chip shortage will end and there will be a huge flood of cars hitting the market. New cars beget used cars. Most manufacturers will try to throttle sales somewhat but some have years worth of stuff ready to ship

Your lips to God's ears.  I'm nursing my 2012 Grand Cherokee (Lola - cause she looks pretty and drives tough) waiting, waiting, waiting for the chip issue to resolve itself so I can replace it.   I figure a $1000 repair bill every 6 months is like 2-3 car payments so I'm ahead of the game waiting. (I hope)

Nice to see someone who gives their cars names. My late Best Friend always had funny names for his vehicles. Some of the classics were The Good Fella, because it had a huge trunk. Another was The Chick Magnet, when he inherited his late mother-in-laws beat up granny mobile.

This would go in the Journals if we still had Journals...

So the little newspaper I have worked for for about a decade longer than I intended to, finally closed. Today was the last day. It wasn't unwelcome but the ignominious kiss-off certainly was. The twice-weekly paper that was part owner of us got sold and we were castoffs, so hey. My direct supervisor found out about it from someone on the street. "Hey it says here on the internet that the Enterprise sold." Boss: "say what now?"

We'd gotten so small, staff-wise, that if any one of us quit, the business would fold, so we found ourselves in a loop of each of us staying on because the timing wasn't good for one of the others, and round and round. So we're all actually okay with external forces ripping the bandaid off. I'll go to a local car dealership that my grandpa worked for, my dad worked for, and now me—different owners but the same dealership. I won't be doing sales though, more of an assistant to the GM or something, we're not sure. So anyway no worries, kind of exciting.

Now we have a little apartment on the back of our garage and the daughter lives out there. Tonight we were on the sofa thinking about turning on the TV when she comes in the house, goes and gets the toilet plunger and heads back out ... I follow, naturally, and there's effluvium coming up in the shower out there. Plunging did little, and a snake down the shower drain caused an exciting uprush of semi-solids.

So that's my Friday! Apologies to Jrzy for not fleshing this out more. I feel like there's got to be another 500 words at least on any of these paragraphs. I'll do better next time!

You had some serious longevity at the last place (I've been around long enough to remember that switch!). Glad to hear you already found a new gig.

couple of thoughts
check the coffee, make sure they're running  something  decent through that bunn in the break room
two, avoid the mully grubbers sitting around bitchin' about tire kickers or crappy business
weekends and holidays may be work thing now
but look at the bright side, less projects for you to tackle at the house
good luck!
