The husband of a friend of my wife's was with Lehman Bros and quit two weeks before they tanked to go to Barclay's (inside info, do you think?). A couple of months later he was "depressed" about his buddies who'd lost jobs, and he'd "taken to his bed." Poor guy, only made $2 million plus every year for years — what will become of him? Hey, I not saying it's great this guy killed himself/was killed, but it's hard to generate much compassion of fucking leeches.

You could be alive and conscious and completely unaware of even crossing the event horizon of a supermassive, apart from noticing all the stars turn red and then disappear. Then, who knows what happens? Space and time as we know them don't exist in (around?) a singularity.
Man, that's a frightening sci-fi story plot point there.

Does Milliway's even HAVE an ATM?
c.
I will not venture even to guess what will or won't work inside the horizon of the supermassive black hole at the heart of the Milky Way galaxy. If time itself just stops (one possibility), you could forever be right in front of the ATM about to enter your PIN, but never doing so. Might as well be doing something more fun at that moment.

Black holes evaporate through Hawking Radiation—a stunning intuition. But is information lost on the other side of the event horizon from us? A deep question no one, not even Hawking, has been able to answer. The answer may have a lot to do with entropy, the arrow of time and causality, the fate of the universe and a lot of the properties of spacetime I don't pretend to understand.
Well I for one am VERY unlikely to remember my PIN numbers when I get to the other side.
