this is a fun, easy listening sort of mix
could even work for bbq/patio activities, cooking, gardening, casual biking, etc.
got the idea from some younger folks in an island style pub
(you might notice that these bands are american based)
i've got a poop ton of reggae/ska -ish music from across the globe
decided to start at home first and may send or upload for download other mixes in this genre
my goal is always for someone to find a couple of tasty nuggets of something you may not have been familiar with
please do enjoy and all apologies for being pokey on the delivery

Finally got around to spinning this, oddly enough on a rare cold day so I was in the mood for something warm and Islandy. Never heard of any of these artists aside from Sublime so I was ready for some new grooves. Tunes that got my attention along the way:
Losing my Mind - really good bass playing here, I was impressed
The Prophet - I liked how this one rolled along smooth and easy and finished up with some stellar picking and guitar work.
Ilya Terry - Traditional Reggae beat with some choice lyrics, State Side you say?
Pepper - Reggae meets Lenny Kravitz
Irie State - Funky off-beat stirred the pot a bit.
Slightly Stoopid - 2nd song on the mix from these guys that I liked.
Middle of the Ocean - Relaxing tune, definitely gave me an Island vibe. Favorite of the group.
Sublime - I've always liked how they sample "Summertime and the Living is Easy" here. Juxtaposition at it's finest.
In the words of the Great Graham Gouldman - I don't like Reggae, I LOVE it!
Pass the Red Stripe!

I went to the one in SF at the Chapel. It was merely OK. He started by admonishing us to not shout out requests because then he would absolutely not play it.
So I shouted âHello Itâs Meâ
(I mean, seriously, we're all rabid fans. No need to play the hits to the point that you ignore the other great stuff in the catalog.)
I was at the actual show at City Winery you posted, I remember the green t-shirt. And I agree, it was not his best show. He was WAY too political, almost belligerent with the audience. While the original Unpredictable tour was fun and interesting, this show just seemed like he was playing because he had time and just regurgitated the last tour.

I wouldn't say "rip-off" - that term appears far too often in the song comments and it's usually inaccurate. It's more like an "homage" to me. That spoken-word-over-background-music genre has been around for a long time, though Nordine did better than most and usually had very good background music.
Of course there's this fine, familiar example:

I thought it was a direct intentional rip off of Ken Nordine
