Thanks for letting your wife loose on this mix.

1.  I Summon You. Spoon: One of the few Spoon songs I really like.
2.  Australia. The Shins: I love the Shins. There’s only a few of their songs I wouldn’t give an 8 or higher. They are in my playlist featured prominently.

3. Mr. Blue Sky. Weezer: A big fan of Weezer here. A very close cover of this song. I’ve had the pleasure of hearing Jeff Lynne performing this at the Hollywood Bowl. Full orchestra/ choir   backup. That was unbelievable.
4. Beautiful Dawn. The Wailin’ Jennys: Down to earth song. Really nice.
5. Sometime I. Rising Appalachia: Nice Mountain Music... some more. New to me.
6. The Lament... The Oh Hellos: Nice flow of these last three songs. Very nice. Another new to me band. A character from Chronicles of Narnia. Who knew?
7. Never Going Back Again. Fleetwood Mac: Love this one. I am always amazed at Lindsey Buckingham’s guitar work.
8. I Am Not Who I Was. Chance Pena: Not familiar with Chance. He sure sounds mature for a young man.
9. Lake Michigan. Rouge Wave: I really like Rogue Wave. Another band featured many times in my playlist. Hey. I’ve even swam in Lake Michigan.

10. Chicago. Sufjan Stevens: llinoise! I love this track and album. What a great story put to song.
11. Love Like Ghost. Lord Huron: Not to sound like I’m on copy and paste here... Another band I have many songs on my playlist.
12. Stay (I Missed You). Lisa Loeb: I guess I could say Lisa is one of my guilty pleasures. Nice one.
13. Out Loud. Dispatch: Bare bones well done. Never heard of these guys before.
14. Mystery Angel. Xavier Rudd: I’ve only heard his “hits” here on Paradise. Seems he likes to incorporate sounds of the jungle into his songs. This is really nice.
15. The Story I Heard. Blind Pilot: I’ve heard some of their songs before. Another enjoyable cut.
16. Where We Come From. Phillip Phillips: I starting liking this when the chorus kicked in and the jangly bridge started. Most excellent.
17. True Or False. Bishop Allen: Catchy!
18. One Way Out of Hole. Cloud Cult: Cut and paste... Another band featured in my playlist. Good song.
19. Fool in the Rain. Led Zeppelin: These guys are like the Stones to me. I particularly don’t care for their “rockers/ blues numbers”. But ones like this make me happy.

Seems Ms. Miser and I have the same interest in music.
Good job on her part.
And thanks for translating her taste in music for all of us to enjoy.

I would like to hear what your late wife was interested in also.
A nice tribute to her?

For the longest time my wife, Jill, has been asking me to use some of her favorite songs on one of my mixes. She helps me out with the artwork each round but wanted to contribute more.  I
offered to have her put 3 tunes in on one of my Mini-Miser mixes but that wasn't moving the needle for her. I tinkered with the idea of using half the mix with her tunes and the other half the favorites of my late wife. That idea didn't move the needle either. So at last I acquiesced and let her have the whole shebang.  So here you have it, the very first Spouse mix in RPMCC history. Hope you enjoyed it!

You should let her drive again, this was a treat! Or better yet invite her to the rotation regular-like.

This whole disc was like a dish of comfort food; even the songs that were new to me felt familiar. Some bands and songs new to me, some familiar, but nothing I didn't like. Nothing wrong with just putting together a pile of songs you like, but did she have a theme she was working with?

Particular favorites:

I'll always listen to a Wailin' Jennys or Sufjan Stevens tune no matter how many times I've heard it. I went to high school in the '70s so I heard more than my share of Fleetwood Mac's Rumors, but I have enough distance now to recognize that it was so popular because it was so good. And she picked a terrific choice from that album.

Don't know Weezer but their very faithful cover of Mr. Blue Sky captures the joyous nature of the song. It never fails to cheer me up. Always liked Lisa Loeb, and this might be the prod I need to get to know her better. I like how much she reminds me of Alanis Morrisette.

Rising Appalachia - Feels like I should know these ladies. Thanks for the intro!

Rogue Wave stood out as a more-percussiony crunchy nugget in this dish. Nice contrast, nice tune.

Don't know Xavier Rudd, but I think I should. Lovely.

Bishop-Allen - Also new to me, wouldn't mind hearing a bit more.

Cloud Cult - Another overdue introduction. Liked this a lot.

Ironically my first listen to this was sorting out a huge pile of discs my wife insisted needed organizing. Filled two boxes with mix discs from the many years of MCC, and reflected on some memebers who are no longer in the game: the late RMGman, SirDroseph, a couple of overseas mixers, and some who just sort of wandered off. There's definitely room for another; give it a thought, MrsMiser!

A lot of those songs are on my list.
Except being around a lot longer... my list is quite a bit huge- r.

I'm already planing my influenced disc after my February contractual commitment.

thanks! mom loved all the dave clark 5, peter paul and mary, new christie minstrels stuff, and dad kinda liked the rocking stuff (stole all of my stones tapes/cds when i was in middle/high school to play in his car on the way to work or golf trips) you'd never have known he was a rocker to look at him. extremely conservative, corporate, preppy, golf maniac. but, man did he love some early zz top and ted-nugent's great white buffalo...miss him.
my very first concert in the very early 70s was when my mom and dad took me to see sonny and cher. i may have been 5 or younger, but i remember it well. i was the same age as their chastity at the time.
