Wet Leg ends at 5:15. Sparks starts at 5:15 on another stage. Not sure how far apart they are but probably a 15 minute walk, right? Ugh.

Yeah good times there always. The sound is usually spot on, too, which can make or break a show for me.
Great times! Hubby was impressed as they rocked the hause! Loved the line "This is the point where we used to run 20 ft off stage and then run 20 ft back on stage. We don't do that anymore! Do you want to hear a couple more songs!"

Tho the sound man spent all night futzing with the sound. "Dood! It's fine, really!" Funny. I could here some of the changes, but never sounded poorly.
Next show I booked is the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio. $35 at the Fur Peace Ranch 8/20 . There's some KEXP shows on YouTube.
This is sandwiched between Sonic Youth and Michael Franti & Spearhead. Yow that's some driving.
Special EFX were great, unfortunately George Jinda passed in 2001, so the sound is quite different than my mid 80's CDs, but still. When the jazz violin player joined up, woah!
No. Mississippi All Stars put on a great show, unfortunately, we left a bit before the end. We're around an hour and a half from home and 4am is early. ( I was reminded by hubby that next year we won't need to leave early ). Luther Dickerson played an opening set with the current second guitar player (sorry didn't catch the name). I think Luther's phrase during the opening set was "loose arrangements with no expectations." What a great guitar player he is, brother's no slouch on the drums either, as neither are the support team.

A buddy is vacationing in Gatlinburg, so a good excuse to see TN, which the Better Half⢠and I havenât. A week there (including Pigeon Forge, too cheap Vegas for me), then gorgeous Chattanooga, then Memphis (Sun studio, Stax museum, Civil Rights museum), and now Nashville. I grew up in the Deep South, and donât miss it, so not enjoying this much but recognizing its importance and itâs cool to finally see Graceland, etc.
I took in Jon Anderson's latest show last night. He is touring with The Paul Green Rock Academy (basically School of Rock kids). I have to say it was far beyond my expectations. So much raw talent on display bringing a youthful exuberance to the complex music of Yes. Anderson's voice was great, considering he is 77. Great set list, Close to the Edge, And You & I, Siberian Khatru, Roundabout, Mood for a Day, Starship Trooper, Seen All Good People...but the rendition of Heart of the Sunrise was knocked so far out of the park I'm still mesmerized.
Highly recommended if it comes to your town.

Saturday was the day to missâcouple hours got thundestormed out. As in people hiding in portapotties.
Cowtown wasn't really for me, and the sound in the dance pavilion was bad enough to drive us out. Did a real disservice to Genticorum and Bev Young, who was calling with them, not that that stopped me dancing to them.
Musical highlight for me was this nice lady singing Ladino music, my first exposure to it. Tent as only half full and there were several stage disasters (involving sound, of course) but the crowd was into it, clapping and dancing at one point. Made for a really fun show.
Balla Kouyate was like listening to a really good drum circle. Fun and all, but not the high point.
Scored a couple of CDs. Also fell in a gravel parking lot rushing to get to some dancing that I ended up missing because I was in the first aid tent, but that's outdoor festivals for ya.
I've experienced the thunder/hailstorms before. Took shelter under a trailer once; Charlie whanged his noggin into the Jayne Mansfield so we were in the First Aid Tent before too.
I don't remember any time the sound wasn't great, except sometimes it's just not loud enough if a particular set is overcrowded.
So sorry to not be making it this year. Hot Club of Cowtown opens on the Dance Pavilion at noon on Sunday, and closes on Granite Street... altho Balla Kouyate on the Original might be great too. But if you stay on the Dance Pavilion the whole day, you can't go wrong. Hot Club, Chuck Mead (BR-549), Genticorum that Lakou Mizik looks fantastic. But I just can't this year.
