Come closer and see
See into the trees
Find the girl
While you can
Come closer and see
See into the dark
Just follow your eyes
Just follow your eyes
I hear her voice
Calling my name
The sound is deep
In the dark
I hear her voice
And start to run
Into the trees
Into the trees
Into the trees
Suddenly I stop
But I know it's too late
I'm lost in a forest
All alone
The girl was never there
It's always the same
I'm running towards nothing
Again and again and again
See into the trees
Find the girl
While you can
Come closer and see
See into the dark
Just follow your eyes
Just follow your eyes
I hear her voice
Calling my name
The sound is deep
In the dark
I hear her voice
And start to run
Into the trees
Into the trees
Into the trees
Suddenly I stop
But I know it's too late
I'm lost in a forest
All alone

I'm running towards nothing
Again and again and again

Wow, that's pretty poor. Great song, but definitely not their best performance!

As far as I can tell, it's an acoustic bass guitar (not an upright double bass) being played into a microphone - or at least that's what the video shows. Their acoustics probably do have pick-ups in them though.
Drums are loud, and it's difficult for even close mic'd acoustic string instruments to compete with them. My guess is that each of the two guitars and the bass have some sort of active electronics, so the sound engineer can isolate them in the mix. And in an environment like that in the video, the guitars and bass are probably being played straight into the mixing board rather than through mic'd amplifiers, which would indeed isolate them from the drums. That said, like acoustic guitars with active electronics, acoustic bass guitars with active electronics have a distinctive sound which differentiates them from electric basses.

Acoustic? With an electric bass guitar? Not that I'm bothered as it's a nice version, but to my mind 'acoustic' in musical terms should mean using non-electric instruments. The only electronics should be mic and amps connected to the instruments, and of course a mic for the voice.

Please, Bill, not agane.
I really like the original version of this song. I have never liked re-mixes. On this recording you miss the best part of the song---that deep eerie repeating bass hook that throbs the whole way through
I love this song, one of my favourites ever, and also this version is my favourite version of it.

Far from my favorite Cure song
This one's a perfect example of how well he can sing.
Was pretty good until he started singing. Bleh!
Bill must be a true fan...so much Cure airtime.
The Cure was one of my favourite bands back in the eighties
But I only listen to them @ radioparadise lately....

Robert Smith seems to forget that there are scales in music for a reason. Atonal solos just don't real light my fire.
Great tune, but not this time, would be much better with more passion and "Robby" showing off more of his guitar prowess.
EWWWWWWW. PSD for me please...

Got my 35mm camera stolen at a Cure concert in Berkeley back in the 80s. Not mad about the camera theft really, but I'm mad I don't have the pictures we took leading up to that concert.... wah

Wow! A great, classic - & I've never heard this version. Nicely done.
One of the most foot-waggin' finger-tappin' songs out there, and a really cool version, like it like it 倧奜ãïŒ

This is pretty well realized for an acoustic version of a synth-heavy track. Doesn't mean it's as good though.
I just love The Cure!!!
Love it!!

My all-time favorite Cure song. They did a 15-minute version of this for an encore at a concert in '92. Chilling.
By the way, The Bravery completely ripped this song off for 'An Honest Mistake' in my opinion.
wish tour, right? I saw that in DC, tho when they did this song it wasn't totally all acoustic, but man did it rock, and boy can those guys play (I think Robert and his bandmates are very underrated as far as being incredible freakin' musicians! very intricate and complex)
it sounds oddly like Billy Idol's acoustic White Wedding too.
I just realized this is almost the exact same bass as the Kooks "Ooh La"... of course, the Kooks came later.
It's always great to hear live/remix Cure.
My wife bought me this album when it came out. What a wonderful thing for her to do. It's just too bad she didn't know about the limited edition 2-disc set.
Nice atomsphere, makes the Cure seem new again. Speaks to the appeal of the music, not just the instrument.

This song should not be played acoustic, IMO. It almost sounds like a cover of the original.

Yep, that's a nice little dissonant riff from Robert Smith there, sounds very spooky and foreboding. Actually it's probably some complicated jazz chord but I'm too lazy to find out.
Brilliant!
In spite I am liked for million reasons to the original studio one... this version is fu..ing brilliant.... and I have to say another time.... Robert's voice it's like the good wine.... better with the age!
I've got a disease. Give me THE CURE!

I'm have goosebumps on this one. Suddenly transformed to listening to the cure on my friend Dylan's walkman (the first one-the big heavy metal one), walking in the north country NY in 40 below snowy nights, snow so cold it crunches underfoot, you can hear it over the walkman. And the Cure transforming my musical tastes from Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith to everything alternative, new, innovative, and not mainstream. Ah, the high school years. So long ago and so very far away. Oh shit, my son needs help with his xbox!
