I've been let down
And I'm still coming round
I've been pulled down
And I'm still coming round for you
Coming round for you

Take away everything that feels fine
Catch a shape in the circles of my mind
Make me feel like I belong to you
Make me feel it even if it ain't true

Catch a train on a silver afternoon
A thousand miles and I'm gettin' there too soon
Take me there, when I should be going home
Tell me why I'm still feeling (all) alone

I've been let down
And I'm still coming round
I've been pulled down
And I'm still coming round for you
Coming round for you

I lived a block away from the Paradise for a few years and that's the way it always was, some folks came for the music and some just to drink.

Fred, You've left your mark.

so Hope Sandoval (aka Mazzy Star) is playing a show at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston... and the crowd is getting restless... it is a very dimly lit show (at the artist's request) and a lot of people were there to see Hope b/c they heard she was cute... not a shadow on stage.. so a bit into the show a quiet crowd started chit-chatting, drinking at the bar and what-not. Mazzy stopped the show and started complaining about the crowd being too loud. Someone shouted out "We love you Hope!" to which she replied: "I don't need you to love me. I need you to SHUT THE F**K UP!" Amazingly bizarre moment out of all the live shows I've worked/seen. Almost the whole crowd turned on her. She was very apologetic after the show and is a TOTAL SWEETHEART in person. Just an off night I guess.

Nope...same experience I had at a show in Toronto at Massey Hall...Hope, and the band, had a hissy fit that, as the opener, people weren't in their seats cause it was a blizzard and it was hard to get to the venue on time.  Anyways, three or four songs in..."F**K this sh*t"...throws down the mic and storms off stage.  Polite applause and we all waited for the Cocteau Twins, who were really great.  So, me thinks Hope is pretty full of herself.  Which makes her super unattractive in my books...

I was thrown out of a Mike Doughty show for whispering to my wife how good he was live.  Some artists don't appreciate their audiences.  We went and saw him again anyway.  Have to accept these prima donnas as they come I guess :)

Just replying to this so it stays near the top.  That is all.
RIP David
Have not heard this one before.   It makes me so happy.

I can tell you as a drummer that's performed in a lot of clubs - it was a club. People were drinking. You're not going to expect them to siddown and shaddap politely like it's a Yo Yo Ma recital.

You just play well and hope for the best.

Totally agree - a complete album.

Most only know Mazzy Star from their "Fade Into You" single.  However, I have always thought that their follow up album Among My Swan was a great piece of work.  Thanks RP for playing one of my favorite tracks from the album.

Damn, this woman is sexy!
Someday, if I'm lucky, Mazzy Star will sing me a lullaby. I mean that as a compliment.
They have a good sound. {#Clap}   Trouble is, every song sounds exactly the same. {#Ask}

A voice that just melts my brain housing group.  I discovered her while watching the psychological thriller, Down in the Valley, with Ed Norton (that movie is a discussion in itself).  Mazzy Star sang the theme song, and after the movie I ran right out and purchased three of Hope's CDs as well as googled the band to learn all about it.  Not only does her wavy, sensuous voice enthrall me, but she is a gorgeous Latina from LA, which, for some reason, strikes me as an unlikely possibility.

Huh?  What part is unlikely?

She was probably just getting in the right mindset for a potential upcoming tour with Oasis and Amy Winehouse.

I always wondered if she is the offspring of Arturo Sandoval....?
