The Reasonland's emperor came down
To the water's edge and said, "I don't know where I'm bound
I've got emeralds and rubies sewn into my gown
But I am sadder than the diamonds in my crown

So will you lay me down in a fiddler's cloud
And float me out to sea
Let my aching head be still, let me surrender to your will
Float me out and deliver me"

A mighty king came down to the sea
Said, "I may win any battle that I please
I got a hundred-man batallion, they all fall down at my feet
But there's a songbird who will not sing for me

So will you lay me down in a fiddler's cloud
And float me out to sea
Let my aching head be still, let me surrender to your will
Float me out and deliver me

I wanna fly out to your center
I wanna sink down into your gold
I wanna go down without my dagger
I wanna shed these clothes"

The preacher's wife kneeled down by the waves
Said, "For your love and salvation I have prayed
I am a tired tightrope dancer, I wanna go no more this way
Just give me something, a penny for my faith

So will you lay me down in a fiddler's cloud
And float me out to sea
Let my aching head be still, let me surrender to your will
Float me out and deliver me
Will you lay me down, won't you lay me down
And float me out to sea
Let my aching head be still, let me surrender to your will
Float me out and deliver me"

Perhaps honorable mention, but not the winner of the most boring song contest.

Ditto!

Would love to hear a duet between Antje Duvekot and Jonatha Brooke...would be perfection, I believe.

just lovely! {#Daisy}

this could easily be the most boring song I've ever heard

Are you paying her rent? I'm all about not selling out, but the woman's got to eat and keep a roof over her head!

plus....she may not have had any say in whether or not they use her material......as long as they're paying royalties she can't do much about it.

That being said, she is also in the business of making and selling her music.

Nice for this style of music, but at the moment ==> {#Yawn}

WOW

I've never heard her but good grief I love her already.
I have to get this album.  Sounds like a cross between Sarah McLachlan and Patty Griffin.{#Good-vibes}

Great example of what I like about RP. Here's an artist that I've never heard of before that is just amazing.

And I don't like it at all, but know the next song will probably be something I'll enjoy. Viva RP!
This is one of those songs that can send shivers down my spine... in a good way.  Reminds me somehow of Cold Rain and Snow.  Love it!
Very nice, a pleasure to listen to.
Not my style but OK for what it is.
this entire CD is really interesting, and her stories between songs make me laugh out loud
yet another fabulous RP discovery

Antje's voice set upon these lyrics, set me to tears and to terms with healing from a lonely, lonely life and all the hateful things people used to say to me over and over, and long after I began to believe they were true. For Antje, a gentle smile, a tear and a wave as I set upon this journey. ^-^~
I sincerely wish you peace and joy on your journey, in your life!

A spellbinding song - thanks!
I'm sad now...sniff sniff....:(
Bank of America uses one of her songs for their recent ads.
This appeared in a CD published a couple of years ago called "Hands across the water", a benefit for victims of the tsunami. The CD was a collaboration between Scottish, Irish and US artists. Still on sale at Amazon (click here).

Antje Duvekot (born 1976 in Heidelberg, Germany) is a singer-songwriter and guitarist based in Boston, Massachusetts. Duvekot moved to Delaware at the age of 13, when her mother remarried. Duvekot writes songs that are often dark and personal, and she frequently records and performs with little accompaniment besides her acoustic guitar.
taken from wikipedia...
Huzzah! Antje in the rotation... There's a really nifty performance of this song by her and Solas on their Reunion album. A must buy. Check out her live works... very personal and up-close.
