No hate, just a restatement of the obvious:  he's THE outstanding vocalist of his generation, the Boomer's Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Mel Torme' all in one.  Those vocalists were in the jazz subgenre, while Van is the apotheosis of R&B.

I'm sorry I missed this one. I haven't sat down and listened to the album in way too long and this was always one of my favorite songs from it. One of the more straightforward, simple tunes on the record but I just have always loved it.

Van Morrison follows the Waterboys cover of his song "Sweet Thing", and the Waterboys followed 10 000 Maniacs, both of whom covered Springsteen's "Because the Night." And before that, a Dylan cover, and all the above mentioned are Dylan inspired. Whoa! Bill, you're a master!
