I don't need to belong to no one
I don't belong at all
Got my face in the corner
Got my back to the wall

And pretty baby I'm restless, restless
Restless through and through
I'm restless, restless
You look restless too

I'm a hair trigger lover
And I can't face up to nothing
I'm impatient with the wind
But I'm waiting here for something

Pretty baby I'm restless, restless
Restless through and through
I'm restless restless
You look restless too

Restless sleep, twisted dreams
Moving targets, silent screams
Restless city, restless streets
Restless you, restless me

I'm a face out the window
I'm a black satin sheet
And I can't stay warm
I stay out in the street

And pretty baby I'm restless, restless
Restless through and through
I'm restless, restless
You look restless too

This was the last gasp of a dying band.  A good gasp, but the end of Tom Petty for me.

I know... when they released their next album after this one (that lousy Damn The Torpedoes) that was certified a lowly triple-platinum so recently in 1979, I too knew it was over for these guys.  God knows why they didn't stop at 2 and released 14 more albums over 35 years.
What were they even thinking?!?

OK, you're right.  Torpedos was a great record.  After that....meh.
'Mojo' was sweet! TP was moving forward all the time.  Excellent deep cut, Bill.

This second effort along with their first were highlights for me. The third polished and hit laden effort was much better produced but except for a few hidden gems was a bit of a letdown for me (I've heard Refugee enough for 5 lifetimes...) I still think the sophomore effort stands out as their best:  Magnolia, I Need to Know, Too Much Ain't Enough, etc.
Night Watchman was a good one too. I was burned out from radio overkill, a friend gifted me a ticket to go see them at the Bowl. So glad I had the chance to see him perform, he died about a week or so later

The bass line kills...
Great tune on his second album. Bill, add "Hurt" another great B-track.

if you crank it it's GOOD DRIVING MUSIC   : )  !!!
I still have it on vinyl.  Great memories spinning this in my 1st apartment..newly found freedom in Redondo Beach.  No longer anyone telling me to turn it down.   !!  {#Smile}marrdcheez wrote:

Great album!

Huh?  This is from their first album...

Actually it's from their 2nd album, which I bought new so many years ago it boggles the mind.

LOL!!!!
Not one of TP & Heartbreakers better efforts. A B side to the B side.

Great blast from the past!   I was a teenager when this came out, and needless to say, it was a very restless time for me — felt like Tom Petty knew exactly how I felt.

This one is pushing upward toward 3...

nah, 2
Hmm. If you'd asked me, I'd say sure I like that song. But now hearing it it's not doing so much for me. Good album tho. I think. Maybe I better not listen to it.

Edit: Kicked it to a 6. Don't see it moving from there.
this one's a classic late 70's album filler...seems forgettable to me.
This is so weird - I actually dreamed this song last night and woke up still hearing it.  Now, Bill's playing it!  Haven't heard it in a long, long time (I only have it on vinyl), so maybe that's why I was dreaming it.  Anyway, good song - thanks, Bill and Rebecca!
A classic track from the groove-yard of forgotten favorites!  Haven't heard this in decades.
Petty - Always one of my favorites!!
