She's a good girl, loves her mama
Loves Jesus and America too
She's a good girl, crazy 'bout Elvis
Loves horses and her boyfriend too
It's a long day livin' in Reseda
There's a freeway runnin' through the yard
And I'm a bad boy 'cause I don't even miss her
I'm a bad boy for breakin' her heart
And I'm free, free fallin'
Yeah, I'm free, free fallin'
All the vampires walkin' through the valley
Move west down Ventura Boulevard
And all the bad boys are standin' in the shadows
And the good girls are home with broken hearts
And I'm free, I'm free fallin'
Yeah, I'm free, free fallin'
(Free fallin', now I'm)
(Free fallin', now I'm)
(Free fallin', now I'm)
(Free fallin', now I'm)
I wanna glide down over Mulholland
I wanna write her name in the sky
I'm gonna free fall out into nothin'
Gonna leave this world for a while
And I'm free
(Free fallin', now I'm)
(Free fallin', now I'm)
Free fallin'
(Free fallin', now I'm)
(Free fallin', now I'm)
Yeah, I'm free
(Free fallin', now I'm)
(Free fallin', now I'm)
Free fallin'
(Free fallin', now I'm)
(Free fallin', now I'm)
(Free fallin', now I'm)
(Free fallin', now I'm)
Yeah, I'm free, free fallin'
Oh!
(Free fallin', now I'm)
(Free fallin', now I'm)
Free fallin'
(Free fallin', now I'm)
(Free fallin', now I'm)
Yeah, I'm free

Love this track and most of Tom's music but never realised that Bill was such a fan. 73 tracks in the library!
There seems to have been a lot of Tom Petty on RP this week. I'm not complaining, just pointing out a trend.

I don't think it's ironic, and I do think it's a great way to give a thumbnail sketch of a person's innocence and naivete in very few words. You or I might not want to hang around with such a girl, but we both know exactly what kind of girl she was before the bad boy broke her heart, which is what Petty intended.

Or is this ironic? :)

Please don't tell me you're going commando, Tom?
I often associate this song with Market 'corrections'
Could listen to the riffs in this song all day. Relaxing.
Sorry, but this song makes my head wanna pop off. Ugh...
As sophisticated as this song is, as evocative the lyrics are, I can only remember my toddler son singing this song frequently, "Fweeeeee fawing..."
Classic.
Simple, eloquent, bitter sweet, sufficient.

Now here is a TP song I love.
Simple but so good. I've been a Tom Petty fan for a long time and I can listen to this one over and over (I really didn't have a choice!) and not get tired of it!
