Two little feet to get me 'cross the mountain
Two little feet to carry me away into the woods
Two little feet, big mountain, and a
Cloud comin' down cloud comin' down cloud comin' down
I hear the voice of the ancient ones
Chanting magic words from a different time
Well there is no time there is only this rain
There is no time, that's why I missed my plane
John Muir walked away into the mountains
In his old overcoat a crust of bread in his pocket
We have no knowledge and so we have stuff and
Stuff with no knowledge is never enough to get you there
It just won't get you there
A culture exploded into knickknacks and memories
Eagle and Bear trinkets I don't think it's good
Old man what am I trying to say it's a
It's a messed up world but I love it anyway
Two little feet to get me 'cross the city
My little hand to knock upon your door
My little thing for your little thing
And a big love to lift us up once more to the mountain
Lift us up
Tumble us like scree let us holler out our freedom like a
Like a wolf across a valley like a kid lost in a game
No time no name gonna miss that plane again
And I'm gonna stay here with you baby and kiss you to a good dream
I'm goin' kiss you
Kiss you like you like it
I got two little feet to get me across the mountain
Two little feet to carry me away into the woods
Two little feet big mountain and a
Cloud comin' down cloud comin' down cloud comin' down
Two little feet to carry me away into the woods

Love his voice.
Thought this was Tracy Chapman.
If you really want to enjoy Greg you should take a day trip to his home area in SE Iowa.
You can visit Fairfield (home to maharishi university, where people levitate).
Then visit Croton, IA; along Des Moines River. It's the most northern battle site of the Civil War, because cannon balls flew across the river from Athens, MO where there was a real battle. The Confederates were attempting to capture a foundry in Keokuk, Iowa.

I am ashamed to admit I had not heard Greg Brown Pre RP. Big fan now. Thanks again Bill

It's just you.
Is it me or does this sound like it could be Tracey Chapman's brother ? lol
It's just you.
Could you follow this up with two Little Feat tracks?
This is a great album, but Bill, please play the more mature, lived some life songs like "Think about you", "Someday when were both alone" or "If I ever do see you again".
Love that cover art.
Greg is a true American hero! - Thanks for keeping if fresh, RP... love it!
This song is a favorite of my wife and mine. I'm so glad she turned me on to Greg Brown. He's a unique songwriter, I can't recall any other artists who wrote a song about their grandmother which brought me to tears. Big 9!

Is that John Muir as in the John Muir Trust in Scotland, or some other John Muir?
A bit of trivia: "muir" is the word for 'sea' in Scottish Gaelic (nominative case only, in case a pedant jumps in).
I believe that is the same John Muir that had so much to do with establishing protected natural parks, forests and wildlife habitats here in the western US. I didn't realize his work was being continued back in his native Scotland.

I am pretty certain that this is the first time I've ever heard John Muir's name invoked in a mainstream (more or less) popular song. To also mention the cornbread is even more astonishing.

Oh, RP, you are really tranquillising us this evening

If you ever see an antique Triumph in the Triangle with the license plate "HOY HOY" be sure to wave, it's me.
I've liked Greg since "Slant 6" which I bought because I thought that was the coolest album name EVAR.
This song just made me want to hear some Little Feat Too.

I checked to see what RP has of his, and there's a LOT. I guess we can hope for more in the future... I really like his music, too!
Greg Brown's folk music is all good. I'd enjoy hearing more of him. It is all feel good music.

Never enough Greg Brown for me. A living treasure for our time.
Now that's more like it! Follow a Greg Brown cover with a Greg Brown song. Love it!
Thanks for playing Greg Brown. The guy can emote up a storm!
Reminds me of Van the Man...
You know what they say about little feet.
