Home is where I want to be
Pick me up and turn me round
I feel numb - burn with a weak heart
(So I) guess I must be having fun
The less we say about it the better
Make it up as we go along
Feet on the ground
Head in the sky
It's ok I know nothing's wrong . . nothing

Hi yo I got plenty of time
Hi yo you got light in your eyes
And you're standing here beside me
I love the passing of time
Never for money
Always for love
Cover up + say goodnight . . . say goodnight

Home - is where I want to be
But I guess I'm already there
I come home - -she lifted up her wings
Guess that this must be the place
I can't tell one from another
Did I find you, or you find me?
There was a time Before we were born
If someone asks, this where I'll be . . . where I'll be

Hi yo We drift in and out
Hi yo sing into my mouth
Out of all tose kinds of people
You got a face with a view
I'm just an animal looking for a home
Share the same space for a minute or two
And you love me till my heart stops
Love me till I'm dead
Eyes that light up, eyes look through you
Cover up the blank spots
Hit me on the head Ah ooh

Interesting!
The only name on that list I would choose to hear a little less of would be REM.  I don't dislike them, I just prefer to hear them less frequently.   ~  Peace.  ~
Bloody love it..!!
Please, please one (1) day without TH or DB....
I'm finally part of a listener trend!   Yahoo!

Too much Talking Heads. Quirky? Yes. Some catchy hooks? Yes.  Kitschy? Sure.

But not much more than that to justify all the air time they get.
I also agree that the Talking Heads and Byrne is a little overplayed...

I like the Talking Heads and all, but being that there is so much music out there, and David Byrne's less than soothing voice, once or twice a day is enough.

I do wonder who could possibly emulate the Weymouth bass groove!

The dance with the lamp to this song was one of the high points of a video that was already extraordinary.

Thank You for the info. I will check it out. Shawn Colvin is great.

They all switched instruments on this song.  No one played what they normally play.  I've said before this song makes me smile, makes me cry and all inbetween.  It is one of few songs that are perfectly done.  Just my opinion...

Mr Byrne está tarado, por eso es un genio.
Can't get any better than this classic by the Talking Heads!

Okay, so I put on rp, get my earbuds out, and step out to start watering the garden on a Sunday morning here in the mountains of Michoacan, and this is what comes on. If that don't make me smile, I don't know what will.

Sweet 👍
So far ahead of its time that it sounds as wild today as it did when it first blew us all away! The lyrics, the rhythms, the quirky vocals and unbelievably creative arrangements, all GENIUS and worthy of worship... Bravo! Thanks, RP, for helping us all regularly celebrate Talking Heads in the style and manner they so deserve! Oh, how often we pondered the meaning of the positions of the "upended chair" hieroglyphic symbols on the mandala-like cover! And, we wondered, should we be reading them top-down, right to left, ancient kanji-style, or -- ?  Yes, indeed, Enlightened Parties were so much fun when we had such things to hold and grok to our hearts' content, instead of today's ubiquitous "smart" phones... RP is definitely The Place!

I am not a big Talking Heads fan. They would not make my top 50, probably not even top 100, but come on -- they have some good tunes.

... "aggressive"?  Huh?

yes, I mean it doesn't match the tone or mood given by the music in the background and because there is such a difference, it appears "aggressive" compared to the melody.
At a time of unspeakable emotional upheaval - this is my comfort music,
Being heavily influenced by protest rock, thematic rock, prog rock, during a time of cultural and political upheaval, the Heads (and other wave/punk bands of the time) taught me that music didn't always have to heavy and meaningful.  Sometimes it could just be fun.

Ugh. I know this is sacrilege, but I just don't get the Talking Heads. I guess you had to live it to get it. But this is painful and somewhat demented, to be honest... I can't get the image of a sick smiling clown head slowly rotating out of my head. {#Roflol}

I've always been a 'Heads fan. Saw them a few times in the early days before they took off. I dunno if you had to live it to get it, but it probably helped.

Some never 'got' the 'Heads. They were a unique band that plowed up real new ground with their first four records.

That clown thing...a semi-weird 'Heads fan might ask: why are you so weird? lol  {#Wink}
I like repetitive music if the groove is good, but this groove does nothing for me I'm afraid....
I think all about this song is the perfectly clean mix and the immediately identifiable voice of David, the lack of pretention and the risky way to play detuned instruments that could have made the song be a total failure, but they didn't. TH have that sense of building a memorable groove out of appearently simple chords and without technical tricks. Great song in the midtime of a quiet dancing party.

Is this a best song of the 20th century??
so I can say: monotonously and boring.
although in the 1980s it seemed to me too sludge.

A while back the theme was Beatles covers, which doesn't sound very interesting but he dug out some amazing tracks from around the world that really made it mesmerizing. The fact that they all began with a song that I was familiar with helped. Of course I'm no "beatles purist" who wails and moans anytime someone does a cover.
