In the days
When we were swinging from the trees
I was a monkey
Stealing honey from a swarm of bees
I could taste
I could taste you even then
And I would chase you down the wind

You can go there if you please
Wild honey
And if you go there, go with me
Wild honey

Did I know you?
Did I know you even then?
Before the clocks kept time
Before the world was made

From the cruel sun
You were shelter
You were my shelter and my shade

If you go there with me
Wild honey
You can do just what you please
Wild honey
Yeah, just blowing in the breeze
Wild honey
Wild, wild, wild

I'm still standing, I'm still standing
Where you left me
Are you still growing wild
With everything tame around you?

I send you flowers
Cut flowers for your hall
I know your garden's full
But is there sweetness at all?

Oh oh oh

If you go there with me
Wild honey
Won't you take me, take me please
Wild honey
Yeah, swinging through the trees
Wild honey
Wild, wild, wild

It's normal that someone might not like 'em. But even if it's not someone's cup of tea - just by looking at their musical legacy over the years, all the albums, concerts, collaborations, etc. - try to accomplish that, then say whatever feels like.

Agreed, and U2 have no musical talent IMO. One of the most overrated bands on earth. Along with R.E.M.

U2 join R.E.M as the two most overrated bands on Earth - YUK. No More PLEASE

You are insane. Bono has one of the most expressive, emotionally controlled and passionate voices in all of rock and roll. Plus, he's a pretty damn fine songwriter, too.

Why is lesser?Because it doesn't sound exactly the same as their repetitously braindead "hits" with the same overwrought vocals and the exact same"it was OK the first 10 times" guitar effects?
It wasn't an insult. It's simply not as grand or deep or far-reaching as some other U2 songs. Like, say, Vertigo it's not designed to be much more than a "fun" song. Not every song has to be One or Love is Blindness or Kite or whatever. Since there is a large contingent of people on RP who insult any U2 song I was trying to say that this is a lovely pop tune that shouldn't be worthy of anyone's hate... If your point is that it's good because it's different than "typical" U2, I'm cool with that. If you're saying most U2 sucks, you've lost me.
One of the most over-valued band in the history

Based on all the comments I have read today on a cold Sunday in Syracuse NY, all alone in my office suffering from stupid engineering calculations, three total assholes have repeatedly made their negativity paramount. They are physicsgenius (who is the most comical), tony620, and closemindedmoron. Thanks losers! Keep up the bad work.

Nice to hear them do another sound

Funnily, before I started listening to RP, I was neutral on U2. Now--I believe in reaction to the mysterious hatred they seem to inspire in listeners-- I've been forced to take a stand. And I conclude, without qualification: U2 rocks.

Not being a huge U2 fan I never heard this before. When it started up I thought it was Wilco. Maybe it was the uncharacteristic lack of affectation in Bono's vocal. ;)
one of their best songs. what memories.
Inspired by early Van Morrison?
sucks - would rate it a 1, but I have too much respect for the band to do that..
Wow...how did such an indifferent song elicit such ridiculously angry comments? Now everyone say "AHHHHHHHHH":
not the best of U2 for sure....and I'm a U2 fan since I was 15 y.o. this song is quite likeable but nothing special...to me "All that...." is probably the worst U2's record!

Decent, but nothing special. I haven't listened to this album in years. For me, they maxed out with Achtung Baby. Zooropa and Pop were really bad jokes and the last two discs were just OK.
You forgot the Passengers project - which most people dismiss out of hand - even die hard U2 fans. The funny thing about that album is that it wasn't actually as bad as people make it out to be. I think the fact that it was so not U2, that people didn't give it a chance. Even listening to it today, I don't feel it's dated at all, in fact if anything, I'd say it was a little bit ahead of it's time. The one thing about U2 that you can't fail them for is the fact that they don't stay the same - whilst still holding onto their own sound / style. Which I feel should be the goal of any artist - musical or otherwise. I mean, what's the point in staying the same for a lifetime? As for Zooropa and Pop being really bad jokes... have you actually listend to these albums? Have you listend to songs like "The First Time" or "Please"? Ah sure... each to their own. Ach, ceapim go ní fhíos agat a cad faoin tú ag caint.

Indeed. I found the drop in quality from All That You Can't Leave Behind to Atomic Bomb to be quite stunning. Very disappointing.

I find this a lot less pretentious (& annoying) than most other recent U2.
hmm...interesting. a u-2 song i really don't like, that's kinda rare. also interesting - i just read where they made over $250 million last year alone.

I can feel some people itching to demand your typing fingers being chopped off now!! (grin) No offence man. I love Bono's voice, but admit it's a love or hate thing. Incidentally, this song is neither their best, nor features Bono at his singing best IMO. A 6 from Ireland from a U2 fan! :D
Too simple, boring balade (sounds like Paul McCartney). U2 has a lot more to give.

Then please enjoy it. I don't. And I am very honest with myself (and with you for the matter). And I never claimed that the music is bad. It might be. I don't like it, but it's Bono's voice that makes U2 songs crappy shit. Some people think that child abusers should be castrated. I think the world would be better off if Bono's vocal cords would be removed.

Filler...
TALENTLESSS!!!!!Okay, like em or hate em, sure, but, the band has talent up the yin yang.
Then they should stick to yin yang.

Yeah. \"Wild Honey\". We get it Bono. Now shut up and go away.
This song is just easy to listen to. Its up and uplifting. Although it of course conjures the reference to Wild Honey by The Steve Miller Band.
We played better stuff that than this when we were 13. If this wasn\'t by U2, it would be rated four points lower.

Another band used to put songs like this in the middle of their albums - The Beatles. It\'s a sweet, playful song that\'s fun to listen to. Of course, if you\'re not a U2 fan you probably won\'t like it.
Pretty weak song, not one of their best by any means.
Yes it is sad but amazing
it is unfortunate that my comment from almost a year and a half ago still holds true.
From: red Date: Jun 6,2001 hate this...way overplayed
boring song from a great band.
