I can't see my hands in front of my
Face on a night like this
I just look back on my life
And think of all I've missed
I grew up south of here in towns
They tore apart for coal
As if to excavate the darkest
Secrets of my soul

So it seems
Life is just a troubled sea
That we sail for free
Don't let me drown
If the rest of the world's goin' down
You've got to breathe your breath in me

Everybody's story is more
Interesting than mine
It took me twenty-some-odd-years
To see I'd been born blind

So I just feel my way to you
I try to keep you close
I'm never very good at getting
What I need the most

So it seems
Life is just a troubled sea
That we sail for free
Don't let me drown
If the rest of the world's goin' down
You've got to breathe your breath in me

The darkest part of every night
Is just before the dawn
The sun begins to rise
When we admit that we were wrong

So here I stumble home to you
To find the words to use
It seems the voices in my head
I seldom get to choose

So it seems
Life is just a troubled sea
That we sail for free
Don't let me drown

EXCELLENT!  Thanx RP!
this song sounds like a carnival nightmare under water

maybe not cause it sounded like it passed over into the next song a little

I love the Over The Rhine album Good Dog Bad Dog. Check it out if you get the chance.

Believe it or not, you got her name right. She actually performed her song "The Alien Song" in the movie "Dazed and Confused" which is a bit strange since The song came out in the '90's and D&C was supposed to take place in '76. Was the absolute perfect piece for the scene it was in (acutally, the whole scene started because of her playing the song.) A clip from her website She's got a personal website that outlines everything she does (and that covers just about any profession possible). millaj.com
I thought it sounded like (unfortunately,)a muzak version of a No Doubt song...this singer sounds like a loungey Gwen Stefani.
I thought I was hearing a Squirrel Nut Zipper tune I\'d never heard before. Wow, she sounds like Katharine Whalen. Good stuff. I\'d like to hear more of them. The Zippers, too, for that matter.
I often wonder when people write bad songs how it is that they don\'t realize it when they write them. Yuck

For some strange reason (according to most of the other comments) I think this is a very lovely song. Dreamy vocals instead of childlike, IMO. Much credits, due to the appeal, go to the keyboards, but the other instrumental parts are very well played and inventive, as well.
Not very good, not very bad, not very much of anything.
wow...I never thought I\'d hear OTR on ANY radio station...but then again, this isn\'t just any radio station.
This doesn\'t sound anything like Joan Osborne, though I must admit she has had a few stupid songs like this.
