There's no way out of here, when you come in you're in for good
There was no promise made, the part you've played, the chance you took
There are no boundaries set, the time and yet you waste it still

So it slips through your hands like grains of sand, you watch it go
There's no time to be lost, you'll pay the cost, so get it right
There's no way out of here, when you come in you're in for good

And never was there an answer, there an answer
Not without listening, without seeing

There are no answers here, when you look out you don't see in
There was no promise made, the part you've played, the chance you took
There's no way out of here, when you come in you're in for good

And never was there an answer, there an answer
Not without listening, without seeing

There's no way out of here, when you come in you're in for good
There are no answers here, when you look out you don't see in
There was no promise made, the part you've played, the chance you took

The wise kink need to have some lessons in wiseness... Classics like the Blue Oyster Cult and Gilmore are obviously a little taxing for more than two brain cells.

you know, i can hear some of the similarities...similar time period and all...not that I think that's a bad thing. Go, go Godzilla!
I'll say spectacular.

Well they did usually play on a stage as well, haha...
 I enjoy this rubbish. Everytime
I have had this album on vinyl since the 1980's
Love the song, but I find it strange to think that it somehow lands between Animals and The Wall. I guess it proves that Gilmour had plenty of ideas of his own rattling around.

I remember the first time I heard Zevon's "Run Straight Down". My first thought was "wow, this is pretty good". My second thought was that it sounded strangely like post-Waters Pink Floyd. Went home and looked it up and found out that it came out in the late 80s and Gilmour plays on it. Well, that'd do it.

Waters is important, but Gilmore is quintessential.

Space Pirate Radio & KTYD!   Man does that bring back memories.  Lived in Thousand Oaks.  My buddy & I would take my old VW up to a hill where KTYD would come in on the FM and listen to Space Pirate.  It was the Radio Paradise of FM back in the 70's.

Thanks for the reminder - just chipped in $10
bought this album on the strength of this tune and enjoyed it all
I got married in ‘78. I was 22. This song came out and became the soundtrack for my marriage. I love this song beyond all rational thought. Oh yeah, got divorced 4 years later. We are both much happier now.
I remember when this came out. I was a Sophomore in High School up in the Boston area. I wondered why so many bands were splitting up and coming out with Solo albums? Ran out to the record store and bought this album and Fleetwood Mac's -Mystery to Me, as the song Hypnotised came on right after David Gilmore; and I had to find those two songs to add to the album collection.
This album is GOLD!

Long live BOC!
Cool just to hear this somewhat obscure record that I owned back in...79?  I remember picking it up at a used record store along with a weird cut of The Police's Regatta de Blanc that was a single album but split into four small sides like a double album.  Despite the difference, I loved and listened to both, and this one comes back with such nostalgia.  Damn, life is so short.
just realized how influential DG's music is on my psyche...what a stellar career and contribution he's made with consistent arse kickin' music done his way. More DG and maybe some cowbell to help me understand the BOC comparison better?!     Rock on, Bill G!

Sounds like David and Roger had the same feelings about the trappings of RnR

I like BOC, Floyd, Gilmour, and even Waters solo.  BOC is a whole different animal than anything Floyd.  They have fun with their lyrics and music.  Very little anything happy with Floyd.  That is why I look at Floyd as more of a blues band than anything else and blues is certainly an acquired taste.  It rarely comes naturally ...

Oh, and I just compared Gilmour to BOC ...

Ralph Steadman did the artwork for The Wall album and the show that went with it too as I recall. I saw the show at Earl's Court (BabyLon-don, Mammon's Maw) in '79. Stunning, no-one had seen anything like it and I've never seen anything like it since. (edit)

A common misconception, but the artwork for The Wall was done by an artist named Gerald Scarfe, whose style bears more than a passing resemblance to Steadmans.

Well all woods are good and Appalachia woods are some of the best sans the attitudes and thinking.  But I needed out of those woods for me to move forward .  So that could have been the backwoods of almost any other place to be forward.  As it turned out, it happened to be the American West and back country of the Rocky Mountains, when I can break away from the daily grind.

Just amazing.   Gilmour proves here that the Pink Floyd sound is due to his influence.  Without his sound, all the PF albums would be as dry and sad as the Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking.

Passes the guitar solo test of making the hairs on your body stand to attention. As ever, not many notes, just the right ones. Thanks for playing.
I'd never heard this album, and recently added into the mix in my car after hearing this track here.  It has a real interesting sound, almost like mashing up Animals with part of The Wall, but extra Gilmour-y.
One of my fave solo tracks of David G. Thanx for playing this RP!

Roger Waters is a great song writer no question but I love the sound of Gilmour's guitar and melodies, put them together and you got the best combination.
