Oars freed from their holes long ago
Lying face up on the floor of my vessel
I marvel at the stars and feel my heart overflow
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river
Two weeks without my lover
I'm in this boat alone
Floating down a river named emotion
Will I make it back to shore or drift into the unknown?
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river
I'm building an antenna
Transmissions will be sent when I am through
Maybe we could meet again further down the river
And share what we both discovered then revel in the view
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river
Further down the river
I'm floating down a river
I'm floating down a river
I'm floating down a river
I'm floating down a river
I'm floating down a river
I'm floating down a river
I'm floating down a river
I'm floating down a river
Perfect ending to a great album....... flows on
down the river.....
Well said! This is a great album. Makes you feel satisfied after listening.
This is one of my favorites of all time. It showed up on my computer after a Napster episode as an mp3 without any identifying information, and I fell in love with it. Took a couple of years before I discovered it was Incubus. Got a couple of Perry Farrell tunes the same mysterious way, and they rank way up there, too.
The frogs are terribly relaxing for me -- they're familiar, since I grew up in the middle of nowhere -- but Bill, there's a lot more frog croaking than you allow us to hear ...
Mama don't allow no frog croaking 'round here!
What do pentatonic scales have to do with Eastern music? Just asking.
Pentatonic scales have been developed and used all over the world since ancient times.
down the river.....
This would be great for a Duracel commercial...
It's going, and going, and going...
Right product, wrong brand name.
Energizer uses the pink bunny that supposedly just keeps on going.
Sometimes this song hits a good button for me and other times a not so good button. Giving it a 6 rating.
Love this!
And there is so much more great music from these guys ...
Would be better without the vocals.
would be better without the Aqueous Transmissions ...
Well, I didn't pee in my pants, but I am relaxed.
I do get a bit frustrated by the contingent of posters who hear something not Anglo centric and immediately think Bollywood. Wrong continent! Just because you don't recognise doesn't automatically make it Indian - there are more countries than that in the world!
Thank you Rand McNally
"listen to the wind blow....down comes the night"
I felt very lonely sometimes, working for an international medical NGO as country administrator. I didn't speak a word of Chinese then, and nobody was speaking any English then. It was an extraordinary journey...
I used to listen to this song, which was the perfect mixture of both Western and Eastern world, to go along my travels.
I remember one very specific moment, in a bus, into the northern mountains of the province, in the Dong and Miao area, after twelve hours on the very bad roads at the time, sharing this music with some other travelers. I was the only foreigner in the bus. And for some of them, the very first they saw.
They laughed and loved the music, even though the CD was always jumping from a track to the other.
Sublime memories

Ha Ha - excellent suggestion. Mine just finished brewing. I do think I shall have some green tea with Incubus and their Aqueous Transmission. Just the perfect end to a working day on a Friday before a long weekend.....Ahhh the music....(kicks legs up onto table)

If wikipedia is to be believed, they didn't hire a session player, it's a "pipa" rather than a shamisen, and it was played by a band member. But I have to agree with your general point..!

+1. I was going to give it acceptable, but as @unclehud says, the frog sounds are just over-the-top, dropping to 3=ho-hum. It's vaguely in the vein of Deep Forest, but it doesn't hang together, probably because the instruments and sounds sound too "jammed in" and it feels contrived to me. This track predates Deep Forest by a year, for what that's worth.

I have never heard this song on the radio. DC's radio scene sucks.
yeah, what tippster said - DC's radio scene sucks

The pentatonic (5-note) scale is quite common in Eastern/Asian music.

That's because you are pretentious and boring. Ha! See what I did there?

Not heard this one for ages. For some reason I find it hugely relaxing.
Peaceful....very different. First time I've heard this. I like it very
much!

Floating down the river!!!
Plus, I had a crazy ex that was OBSESSED with some of the songs off this album but didn't really care that much for this one. It's unfortunate, but this is one of the few songs I can listen too from this album without having really bad flashbacks.
(She taught me to never date another Hispanic bi chick from the Bronx ever again. No offense to any Hispanic bi chicks who happen to be from the Bronx... but she ended up with some SERIOUS problems and tried to sabotage my relationship with my current wife before she was my wife.)
...and repetitive too. I know how much the critics here like to use that particular adjective. Good tune.
i had the same thought...
That's no guitar, that's one o' them triangular banjos!
(edit) Ahh, without full frog...
