My dreams end with us
My tears have run away
Our goal, goal collapsed
Energy of lonesome goal
May pushes, leaves and never feels
Shame casts offense
Shame casts her face
Star reason starring of the place

Safe at last
Seeing my thoughts in order
Safe, fallen down this way
I will be just what I am

Steal more treasures, steal more gifts
This'll size creative lies
Until we drop
It won't free you to go look for the key
My consciousness don't look away
What might keep them, but a slave
What might keep them, but a slave
My truth's not even, even half of what's

Safe at last
Seeing my thoughts in order
Safe, fallen down this way
I will be just what I am

Safe at last
Seeing my thoughts in order
Safe, fallen down this way
I will be just what I am

Safe at last
Seeing my thoughts in order

Elizabeth Fraser and Jeff Buckley sang a duet that I think is lovely.

Oh Liz and co… my heart is healing and you help
The Cocteau Twins are part of my top 5 favourite music artists!
alongside Mylène Farmer, Kate Bush, Billie Holiday and most of all The Beatles!

I didn't listen to the CT in the 90's, but I see (thanks to RP) that it was my loss. This is a great song and I turn it up when it comes on.

For some reason, this reminds me of those little sisters in the Japanese horror movie that live in the tiny bird cage and sing "Mothera....Mothera" to summon the giant insect in times of trouble. Am I the only one?

I certainly remember the "Mothra Twins" from the Godzilla and Mothra movies, but this song does not remind me of them.
Fantastic, yea {#Bananajam}{#Cheesygrin}

'Treasure', I agree, and 'Garlands' especcially! Those where much better than this more recent stuff.
Where is the album 'Garlands' in this Cocteau Twins list? A really classic album missing!
Cocteau Twins will always remind me of my unrequited crush in College in the late 80s.
YASSS! So happy to hear this.
A true siren...
yes <3
Such a time machine are the "Twins", eh? I loved everything they made and together and since, independently.
But if you're taking requests? How about "Fotzepolitic"?
I love the Twins (which is really her voice dubbed over herself but whi cares).  How about Iceblink Luck as a request?
First time hearing CT on RP. Very pleasant to hear.

Niiiiiice
SWEET harmonies. So sensuous and melodic. Great music for sex.
Thanks for including this great band on your playlist.
Love, love, love this band!!! Thank you so much for including the lyrics!!!
Elizabeth Fraser. Yes!
Haven't heard Cocteaus on RP before, wonderful news. Beautiful. Hope it's the first of many - there are even better tunes than this in their back catalogue.
Yet another first for me on RP. Love ya, baby! What a sweet harmony! Very '90s, but also very now.
I still have my concert shirts from this tour.  *sigh*
Dreamy...or dreeeeeeeemy. Love it.
CT are always a tonic...

Yes, ANY Cocteau Twins in pretty darn fine! I am a HUGE CT fan, dating back to "Garlands", even seen them in concert in the early 90's! I actually really LOVE this song. I think it's the "up" & "shimmery" mood of it. I was just VERY happy indeed to hear some of them on RP. I say keep it coming & dip into the "back catalog" as well!

As I am not and never was a fan of this band and really did not know any of their work until hearing them here, maybe this comment will seem ignorant to their real fans. But, once again, from any album with which I am unfamiliar that has a song played on RP, when I buy the CD ($3 in this case), the one song I know from RP is the best on the CD. This has been the case for a good half dozen purchases. In too many cases, much of the CD is easily forgettable except for the one played here. Consider that yet another testimonial for the value of Radio Paradise and the taste to separate the best from the mediocre.

I'm gonna hafta break down and buy this one time....
One day a man woke up and said I'm going to broadcast music to people over the interweb. People said he was crazy. "You're nuts!" They said. "It'll never work". That man's name is Raffi Waldo Manchester and he failed. But, lucky for us, Bill Goldsmith succeeded.

4CC - my favourite CD Cocteau Twins, still a have compact-cassete copy from LP :)

One of very few bands that I have seen that was actually worse live than than in recordings.  No fault in the performance, but the trebly, compressed and heavily reverb-ed sound they record does not translate well to a live environment.  It was hopelessly muddled and indistinct.  Very disappointing, as I love their recordings.
this sounds... lushly moist
Ahhh, how I miss this band......
OK, awesome. Must get some on my ipod and in my CD collection so I can have the case/cover shit.
Great music...sounds a little like The Sundays.

Interesting comment. It never occurred to me but yes, sounds a bit like the Cure sunbathing on a beach.
A great song for a beautiful spring day. This song is just what the doctor ordered. Tommyama
This has a nice groove and flows well from Porcupine Tree's lush and moody Darkmatter piece. That is meant as a compliment.

See Jean Maurice EugÚne Clément Cocteau. Quite certain he was not a bird. Excellent tune.

Another classic - thanks for spinning this! (And great segue from The Rivieras too!)
Elizabeth Fraser does "This Love" on Craig Armstrongs cd "The Space Between" Brilliant.

She did Teardrop? Huh! Never would've guessed it. Makes sense, now that I listen to this one... Good cut.
they sound hot! maybe it's my thing for twins, . . . but I digress. . . .
ranwulf wrote:
I've always said "cock-too," which I guess is wrong, come to think of it.
This is French... The pronunciation is related to the English 'toe' (i.e. tiptoe)
Nice tune from one of their slight dips in quality...we need to hear Seekers Who Are Lovers from Milk and Kisses on RP...
I was a big fan. A lot of their songs sound kind of dated, but this one could still be now. They were...uh...different, and mostly without imitators, "lyrically" speaking (in as much as there were "lyrics"). I do miss them, though.
I a d o r e this song!

I was about to buy this on iTunes just now when I looked at the album cover...and realized I already had the CD. Wonderful band. I don't know if I could listen to this kind of music for hours, but Cocteau Twins have this niche nailed down. Music like this is what I feel when I'm in love.
Wow. So glad to hear CT today. Takes me back to the good ol' days!!
Unlike anything else ever recorded....sweeps one up by the first chords and twirls them like a rapid rising updraft. Evanescent.
Bloody hell! I never realised this lot were still going. I loved them back in the 80s, all their twee cutesy songs, though they also did some darker stuff - their first album was quite earthily feminist IIRC. I still can't understand a word Liz Fraser singe, though that doesn't matter much - what a lovely voice.

Quick trivia: anybody know where they got their name? (no cheating!)
I remember reading a long time ago that they were named after the odd twins in the Hercules' Adventures of TinTin comics, but I lost a bet a while after when a friend pulled out an old copy of a music rag (memory fails me, Melody Maker or NME probably) where one of the band said that the name came from an old Simple Minds song that was originally called Cocteau Twins (named after real life twins who invented their own language which was indecipherable to everyone else), but then later re-titled No Cure, if memory serves. And by the way, Harriet sounds *nothing* like Liz! :p
Nice...here's that dreamy quality that was missing from previous 'remix' of FWM's Dreams by the Corrs
Thanks for recovering from Corrs - Dreams with this. Love this song.

Nay, that was Harriet Wheeler. This might actually be the most frequently asked question on RP. CT and the Sundays had similar influences and influenced each other...though CT clearly had the upper hand. Bands like the Cranberries, Belly, and Throwing Muses also owe a debt to CT. GolfRomeo wrote:
BTW, wasn't the early Cure on 4ad? I am racking my brain here at work trying to remember what discs from 4ad I have at the house. Can't wait to get home and check.
Far as I know, the Cure was always on Elektra. At least, all of my earliest stuff is. (well, except their first which as sub-label Fiction) The 4AD site doesn't list them as a past artist either. Sorry. Dreamy CT...love 'em love 'em love 'em. Quick trivia: anybody know where they got their name? (no cheating!)
