Nothing's so loud
As hearing when we lie
The truth is not kind
And you've said neither am I
And the air outside so soft
Is saying everything, everything

All I want is to feel this way
To be this close, to feel the same
All I want is to feel this way
The evening speaks, I feel it say

Nothing's so cold
As closing the heart when all we need
Is to free the soul
But we wouldn't be that brave I know
And the air outside so soft
Confessing everything, everything

All I want is to feel this way
To be this close, to feel the same
All I want is to feel this way
The evening speaks, I feel it say

And it won't matter now
Whatever happens will be
Though the air speaks of all we'll never be
It won't trouble me

All I want is to feel this way
To be this close, to feel the same
All I want is to feel this way
The evening speaks, I feel it say

(All I want is to feel this way) it feels
(To be this close, to feel the same) so close
(All I want is to feel this way) let it take
(The evening speaks, I feel it say) me in
(All I want is to feel this way) let it hold
(To be this close, to feel the same) me so
(All I want is to feel this way) I can feel
(The evening speaks, I feel it say) it say

What a stupid name for a band.  And then what a non-entity song.  TG it never appears on my playlist.
It's kind of incredible that there was once an era where TV was proclaiming this the "most popular song in America".  This actually happened in September 1992, on Fox network, on promos for Beverly Hills 90210.  I remember like it was yesterday.

Now this song is barely remembered... the millenials and Gen Z have not even heard of it.
I get the Python reference, but this really is one of the stupidest band names ever...

Yep... used to see them at Charlie's Seaside Cafe in Ventura weekly.  Randy married a friend's little sister.

Haha, yes!  This is definitely going down as one of those classic, feel good 90's songs!  {#Smile}

WOW!!! One of my favorite Toad songs!!!

It's SO good to hear this again....I miss the 90s

It probably gives my age away, but this totally takes me back to riding on the school bus as a kid.

Blasting back to 1990's.  =) {#Bounce}

mmmm, memories. i always thought this band was a "one album wonder" but i recently found out they still exist and actually tour.
Hmm, really? Glenn, the lead singer, was touring here late last summer (2006) as part of his solo career. He played at the Windjammer on the IOP. No I didn't make it.
A thousand listens ago I would have given this a 9. Now it's an 8.
Jangle, baby, jangle... Very cool leslie effect on that guitar solo!

Can NOT believe I hadn't rated this yet! 9. Keep 'em coming!
Although musically this isn't so great, it does bring back some good memories. I like it!
Super band, but probably their worst song.
Wow, haven't heard this one in a long time... hearkens back to the days when you could actually hear good music on FM radio...

i think something like AirSupply would be light rock. but hey, that's just me. love/miss Toad!
dude hacky sack in the quad at 4!
Sometimes I can't tell whether I love or hate this song.
Toad was great, especially their last 2 discs - Dulcinea and Coil. Play more from these 2 - Coil is sadly overlooked
You should hear this song when Glen Phillips (of Toad) plays it in the Mutual Admiration Society (with Nickel Creek). Makes me appreciate this rather blander version.

Maybe, but I always just felt that this band defined the word "bland"
Beautiful pop song. Tight harmonies, good melody, just wonderful. I guess I just like to appreciate a good pop song that doesn't pretend to be 'important'. Disposable? Yeah. So what?

Hmm. Mebbe. FWIW, I've always considered Fear one of the great headphone CDs ever.

I agree with the second part, but I think this is a great band.

These guys are back on a reunion tour. I just saw them in Pittsburgh a few weeks ago. It was a very good performance. Todd Nickels (who I think is the best singer in the group) is now a singer for Lapdog.
