There is this old woman, she lives down the road
You can often find her kneeling inside of her hole
And I often ask her "Are you looking for the motherlode?"
No, no my child, this is not my desire, and then she said

"I'm digging for fire
I'm digging for fire
I'm digging for fire
I'm digging for fire"

There is this old man who has spent so much of his life sleeping that he is able to keep awake for the rest of his years
He resides on a beach in a town where I am going to live
And I often ask him "Are you looking for the motherlode?"
No, no my child, this is not my desire and then he said

"I'm digging for fire
I'm digging for fire
I'm digging for fire
I'm digging for fire"

I'm digging for fire fire fire
I'm digging for fire
I'm digging for fire, for fire, for fire
I'm digging for, for fire

GOOD TUNE!!   Thanx RP!
Yep!
How do you follow up Doolittle?  Well, you really don't.  But damn, I think this was a really good album from the band and an excellent successor.
Every day I hear songs I have never heard in my life. (This is one). That would be less surprising considering RPs extensive playlist, except for the fact that I have been listening during work hours for most of the last eight years. HOW DO YOU DO THAT?!!
He also likes to get a night's sleep once in a while.

I Love the Pixies . Please play more of this awesome sounding music.  Yeah
Hate the Pixies. Please stop playing this rubbish. Urrggh
Hmm, I went for a 9, but okay,  I think it needs a 10 after all.  An absolutely awesome band,  almost every song a classic.
Love this song!!  Love this band!!

I have tickets to see them on Wednesday night!
This song is too short!
I have a headache, but I just turned the volume up. {#Bananajam}
This song rocks so hard.
Never heard it before, and love it!
This is such a brilliant LP -- so under appreciated when it came out - but holds up as well as --even better than-- so much of their stuff.  They were truly the best and most important band of the 80's & early 90's.

Kurt Cobain knew it -- he said of 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' ""I was trying to write the ultimate pop song, I was basically trying to rip off The Pixies"

This gets a 10 -- so good.
/sees pixies, gives it 10
Every classic Pixies song gets a 10 from me!
they have a new Kim now.

They likely were influenced by a lot of "punk rock" folks - including Carroll, but it's not as if Carroll alone created that sound.  To me, they always seemed more influenced by Patti Smith than any other artists.  Then again, Patti and Jim allegedly were once room-mates , so who knows?
Wow, haven't heard this in a long time, thanks for playing it!  Brings back some college memories.

I'll get me hairball...
I am listening to Jim Carroll's 'Catholic Boy' right now and agree that he was a huge influence in the Pixies sound. Jim was influenced by Bob Dylan I feel also from his storytelling lyrics.  Can't wait to receive my Pixies SACD disc's from ebay!

Well, to be fair, the main reason one listens to someone elses broadcast is to not know what is coming next so I would say we should care if it becomes too predictable.{#Yes}

I would rate this an 11 if that were an option.
A great song off of a great album!{#Bananajam}
I couldn't figure out who Cake sort of reminded me of until I heard the opening of this song.  Then it clicked.

I'm not usually a Pixies fan, but this one I "dig."
so awesome
Not bad when coupled with an international law textbook.

Thanks for that. And keep up the good work. Now see if you can find 10 more reused playlists, and your job will be half done.

love this song. reminds of the early 90's driving to Whistler after school, stoned, picking up
hitchhikers , and blaring this album all the way there.  rad.
The show in DC on Monday was awesome!!
Ha, I've had this CD on auto-repeat in my car for the past few days.  Good stuff, although this is far from the strongest track on the album.

Probabaly not.  It's just not a good song.
Along with Radiohead and Cake, the Pixies are another band rated highly by the RP audience that I just don't get.

Pump up the volume!  10.
Pixies back on tour this Fall, pimpin' the 20th anniversary of Doolittle...https://www.pixiesmusic.com/live_09.php

Another Pixies' favorite of mine, along with Pearly Dewdrops' Drops.

Pixies are great - I saw them live in Munich in the 90´s and it is one of the best concerts I´ve ever seen so far!

I'm at a loss as to how you would prefer he handle it.  Give up the luxury of sleep? Employ staff and/or family to man the microphone 24/7?  Put the MP3 player on Shuffle/All?  Or maybe you, like me, are a master of the obvious and just had to share :)

Love the Pixies! "Here Comes Your Man" off the "Doolittle" album is one of my all-time favorite tunes (hint, hint Bill). They also did a most excellent cover of Niel Young's "Winterlong" on the "Bridge Tribute" album (another hint Bill).
I'm digging for Fire. Delicious!

This group has always been overated. A song or two is ok, but I think their unique sound has been mistaken for quality. It simply becomes tedious and monotonous.
Love the Pixies, but nothing I've heard from this album can touch anything on Doolittle or Surfer Rosa. Little too produced for me. . .for me, the Pixies are all about raw, unbridled angsty sounds.
I was late to the Pixies but the more I hear them, the more I'm diggin' em. Rate it 8

Indeed. For awhile, back when I thought it was really important to have a favorite album for each band, "Bossanova" was it for the Pixies. I have since decided that I can't really make up my mind, and it's not that important anyway. Don't make me choose which one I'd have on a deserted island....

Seriously. Has everyone forgotten how many times a DAY songs are repeated and those same sets are repeated DAY AFTER DAY on most radio stations? just stop it. until you start your own internet station I don't really feel you have the right to yap IMHO.
YEAH! just what I needed to end my work day.
Great song. As usual with Frank I have no idea what it means.
Shake your butt. Not too hard.

As fresh and invigorating today as it was when originally released. A scream-free track, but still, hell hath no fury like a revved up Mr. Francis.
The Pixies bring back great memories of my college days.

Hm... not my favourite Pixies track or album - and I was a huge fan back in the day. :| The Pixies are woefully underrepresented in the RP library. What about "Hey"? Or "Gigantic"? Must upload those some day.

I too saw the Pixies recently, at the Aragon Brawl-room here in Chicago. I was actually somewhat disappointed that they didn't play a single song off the Bossa Nova album. Apparently I'm alone in thinking this was their best album (besides Doolittle, of course). Decent show - I'm glad I can say "I've seen the Pixies live" but I probably don't need to do it again.
Is this part of the long awaited Ring of Fire set Bill's been promising??

Ahhhhhh....sonic paradise!!!!
Great tune for a Monday. More Pixies please!
more Pixies!
Aaaahhhh PIXIES! Excellent.
this whole album rocks furiously and is highly recommended.
I saw them Thursday night in NYC, what a great show! They sounded awesome, and they played a great set (however, not this song) in front of a very appreciative crowd (most of which weren't born when I hit the record store to buy my import copy of "Surfer Rosa/Come On Pilgrim"). They're finishing up their Fall Tour in NYC today. Thanks for playing the Pixies! Oh, and I went online after the show and bought the 2CD set of the very same concert. Ain't technology great? Makes much more sense to do it that way than the Pearl Jam live CD carpet-bombing method. It seems that the songs where Frank "screams" don't make the RP list. I uploaded "Caribou" . . . Frank doesn't scream TOO much on that one, right . . . ?
good gracious, i haven't heard this in WAY too long -- EXCELLENT.
