Ooh, you make me live
Whatever this world can give to me
It's you, you're all I see
Ooh, you make me live now honey
Ooh, you make me live

You're the best friend that I ever had
I've been with you such a long time
You're my sunshine
And I want you to know that my feelings are true
I really love you
You're my best friend

Ooh, you make me live
I've been wandering 'round
But I still came back to you
In rain or shine you've stood by me girl
I'm happy, happy at home
You're my best friend

Ooh, you make me live
Whenever this world is cruel to me
I got you to help me forgive
Ooh, you make me live now honey
Ooh, you make me live

You're the first one when things turn out bad
You know I'll never be lonely
You're my only one
And I love the things
I really love the things that you do
You're my best friend

Ooh, you make me live
I'm happy, happy at home
You're my best friend
You're my best friend
Ooh, you make me live
You, you're my best friend

One of the songs that defines the 70s for me. ABC used this in commercials pitching their shows shortly after it came out.
My best mate Steve would sing this to me when we had both had a beer too many.

I still remember as a kid hearing this on AFRTS AM radio in Germany in summer 1975.  It was so unlike anything else on the radio at the time and I remember how cheerful it made the day.

Bear in mind 1975 pop radio was filled with stuff like "Wildfire", "Mandy", "Have You Never Been Mellow", "Laughter In The Rain", etc... so it was nice to have something that took the energy up a notch.
This song helped me through a bad time-the death of two good friends.
One suicide, the other killed by a drunk driver.

sounds to me like its from the World of Sid and Marty Kroft
my favourite from Night at the Opera. Never tire of it!

This is the reason I checked the comments: 1990 seemed too recent for this song to me.

But the mistake has still not been undone...

Yes, please Bill change the cover to the original (and beautiful) one of A night at the Opera! This song is full of possitive feelings, both lirics and music combine to create this happy atmosphere, many years after the first time I listened to it for the first time this feeling never changes!!
Innuendo?!
aahhh common Bill!!!! I need to work!!!! please play something that makes me turn off the radio!!!! if you keep programing like this my day productivity plummets!!!!

pumping up the volume and wearing headset!!!!

One of my favorite songs ever!

Everybody in my churches loves this song...

Gotta agree with you.  Saw him in Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto during the 'A Day at the Races Tour'.     Didn't really know what I was witnessing at the time.  Certainly got it ticked off the bucket list at an early age.

A very fine tune from one of the finest vocal talents in modern music history!

Hmmm, this sort of sounds like the Partridge Family ...
Fun song, wrong album, this was on A Night At The Opera, not Innuendo. (Written by John Deacon, for anyone who cares!)
Agreed. He had it all. We may have lost him too soon, but he left us with a riches of great songs and wonderful singing.
Freddie's voice was my best friend on the stereo as a teenager. Another John Deacon classic. The poor bloke had no stage presence (who does next to Freddie?), and very little to say in interviews, but on paper: Your My Best Friend, Spread Your Wings, Another One Bites The Dust, If You Can't Beat 'Em.. Brilliant.

Suggestions welcome on this one. What'd ya think RP listeners?

Funny, I was about to say that this song could have been done by ELO, albeit, not as well. Not all music needs to be "cerebral." In fact, sometimes I am moved by the simplest of concepts. This is one of them. Variety rules!

Freddie Mercury easily has the best voice in rock in roll. Of all time.

Easily.
Bill & Rebecca are good together.  {#Bananapiano}
I want this in the playlist of my wedding reception.

Guess I've already posted that before....

{#Clap} Mr Blue Sky - oh yes! Even in the darkest winter days, that never fails to lift my spirits.

I'm so grateful that you've established the criterion for what constitutes "good" music, its position on a heirarchical list. Well, then, by that criterion, this is what we should be listening to this week on Radio Paradise—selections from the Top Ten from the Billboard Hot 200 Albums chart for the week ending 12/18/10:

Susan Boyle - The Gift
Taylor Swift - Speak Now
Jackie Evancho - O Holy Night
Glee - The Music, The Christmas Album
Glee - The Music, Season Two
Black Eyed Peas - The Beginning
Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday
Josh Groban - Illuminations
Rihanna - Loud

Okay, Bill, let's get with the program here. Enough obscure eclecticism. We want popularity! We want hits!

Sappy?  Maybe.  There aren't many songs that immediately improve my mood like this one.  Mr. Blue Sky by ELO also serves nicely for the same purpose.  Strong 7.
Thanks, Bill for pulling me out of my usual office-induced malaise. This one's a guilty pleasure.
BÖC, Lennon, Queen - jeez, for a minute I thought I had the wrong station on!  Don't get me wrong, I like it all.

On this cover look much nicer {#Daisy}

...but this is a good song!  And I'll always defend happiness in much the same way I defend Paul McCartney's songs against his haters.  Come on!  I'd love if someone had written this about me.  Cheers!  {#Cheers}

Just because it is happy and upbeat does not mean that it is cheesy, this is just a wonderful song!{#Sunny}

I love "Shiny Happy People" so I guess that's one more happy song I like.

Agree. I'm more concerned about missing a hidden treasure, which is a lot less likely to happen since finding RP. B&R brought us some great ones, all right.

I like Queen a lot, mainly because they were unique, some of their songs didn't quite do it for me and some were amazing.

They were a love em or hate em band, they could have stuck to the harder rock sound and conquered America but the fact that they stuck to their guns brought them greater respect from many.

The music they made later on was a pale shadow of the early songs and they should have split up after Freddie's death as for me he WAS Queen.

Well that settles that!

Oh, wait: "I hate the Beatles" gets 1.2 million hits in Google so the Beatles must REALLY suck hard. Sorry, fab4fan, that's just irrefutable proof.

Okay, I guess it's kind of cool to hear this about once every 8 years.
Well, it ain't no "In The Lap of the Gods"...but it's still really good. I kinda like "pop" nonsense anyway. It's fun, sometimes.
Had to come and check to see if my 10 year old had switched channels on me.....but no, there it is.....hmm....  Pretty unusual for RP.

Night at the Opera..One of the finest albums ever recorded! It was so well done. Headphone listening will change any doubters out there..
The sentiment is sweet but I'd wager most of those rating the song highly are doing so out of loyalty to the band more than appreciation of this particular song. I like some Queen stuff, and some simply rocks, but this isn't it.
RP just keeps hitting me with this serendipity thing - in the last hour Ray Lamontagne and Bruce Cockburn have been played: going to see them live in Belfast on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Last Saturday night I saw a Queen tribute band - Flash Harry - who were really very good entertainment and had, obviously, taken some of the Paul Rogers + Queen set from 2005/6 as inspiration. This track is a favourite from one of the first albums I ever bought.
One of my fave Queen songs
This has always been one of my favorite Queen songs...and I want it played at my wedding reception.

Barforama.
This is a bit goopy, but I have loved this song since my husband put it on the outgoing message of his answering machine (when we were dating) and it became "our" song. It is simple, perfectly executed and perfectly expressive of its message.
8:28 am - Queen - You're My Best Friend 8:25 am - White Stripes - We're Going to be Friends 8:23 am - Ella Fitzgerald - I've Got You Under My Skin Loving this set!
Sounds like the Partridge Family.
As Bill just commented, it's a "silly little pop song," but I love it. In fact I wanted the DJ to play it at my wedding, but he never got to it (or most of the other 47 or so songs I asked him to play!) Since I'm such a firm believer in the power of music to express what plain human speech often cannot, I tried to be a bit of a control freak about the music played at the most important public event of my life... ah well, it was still good. There's something about the grandiose, over-the-top delivery that Queen gave to all of its songs that makes this one a bit more than just ordinary. Simple sentiments, expressed grandly.
4 great tunes in a row...sorry about the Rikki Lee Jones, though.
yeah! My favorite queen song. Wicked.
This song is a paragon of white bread, MOR, radio-friendly, pablum. (Did I miss any appropriate adjectives?) Ooooooh, you make me sick.
You'd never know that this was the John Deacon's, (the bass-player) first hit with the band. He went on to write several of the band's more memorable songs, "I Want To Break Free" and "Another One Bites The Dust". Fantastic song! Texarse
