By a freeway I confess I was lost in the pages
Of a book full of death
Reading how we'll die alone
And if we're good we'll lay to rest
Anywhere we want to go
In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there like a stone
I'll wait for you there alone
On my deathbed I will pray to the gods and the angels
Like a pagan to anyone who will take me to heaven
To a place I recall
I was there so long ago
The sky was bruised, the wine was bled
And there you led me on
In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there like a stone
I'll wait for you there alone
Alone
And on I read until the day was gone
And I sat in regret of all the things I've done
For all that I've blessed and all that I've wronged
In dreams until my death I will wander on
In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there like a stone
I'll wait for you there alone
Alone

so sabemos que ele preenchia uma grande lacuna em nossos ouvidos e mentes, sua voz era nosso canto que hoje não temos mais, sempre vai ficar a pergunta: oque vai ser agora, pra ele e pra nos?
miss you, chris.
Truly sad how someone who seems to have it all together
decides to end it all.
Mental illness is a sneaky, shifty, evil mo-fo.
Seldom if ever any cure — you just have to keep
wrestling with it, there's good days and bad.
Thankfully, I don't have any ( really ! ),
but family members do, and when they hurt,
you hurt along with them.
Don't talk about mental illness. He was tired. Who hasn't been tired?
For me, his voice always grabbed me by the blues in a visceral way, like MoJo, like Otis, like Muddy, like Buddy, and more. RIP, Chris!
+1 to 9, this one grabs me by the blues too!!

The pill pushing doctors definitely didn't help. I have had bouts of severe depression and suicidal thoughts I can't really pinpoint what helped me ultimately but confiding with my loved ones definitely helped and realizing it just isn't fair to them for me to allow myself to isolate myself and wallow in misery and self pity. I spent time thinking deeply about things and seeing how life is ludacris and a paradox for everyone. Ultimately, I think people that are experiencing mental illness need to realize how important it is for them to keep life simple. And it's not important just for them but for everyone around them. And pill pushing doctors seem to miss this and therapists that want to dig up the past constantly looking for excuses and explanations don't help either. Keep it simple stupid.
RIP Chris
Gone too soon. That man could sing.
I gave it an easy 1; some of us do not miss your music.
too bad. Others will compensate your part. easy 9

The success of those afflicted has a great deal to do with their familial support. I love my brother.
This song topped two US Charts (Modern Rock, Mainstream Rock), was nominated for a Grammy in 2004 for Best Hard Rock Performance, and was certified gold in the US by RIAA (off a 3x platinum album).
So, like you said, "dead end shit".
Yea, this cut is incredibly lame considering the parties involved.

I had severe depression for a long time, and after years of trying all sorts of things, high doses of FISH OIL is what seems to have finally saved me from that hell...best wishes.
Very true... very sad to have lost such a powerful and beautiful voice.

Thanks, Mr. Wolf.
Love, God, the right medications make a big difference.
May all be well with you, too.

Yes, recognizable, powerful, and full of emotion.
And the song writing — there's a story there and it tugs on you.
Thanks, Bill, for including lyrics with all the songs. That's one of the things I really enjoy about RP.
To the listener who didn't come to RP for this — I hope "Play Something Different" (PSD) option worked for you.
There's lots to like here. Corporate radio abandoned quality for "focus group mix" so long ago.
It's really nice there are still a few places where it's all about the music (at least in one man's mind).
Bill is not an HMO DJ. He is a private practice DJ.
Amen to that, so true
What's that song...Only the good die young....RIP

I respectfully but entirely disagree.
Whoops
not what I come to RP for....
Yup, good stuff RP.
Funy how here you can paint explodes with nosy.
Cut loose, I don't want to end up running in circles.
Snoop all day long, crash at night, can't help.
don't agree, but it made me laugh :P
I read they are getting back together!!

Thanks...a bittersweet thought however....will they re capture the original magic or crash and burn like Jane's Addiction's attempt?
I'll let you know after I see SG at the Fox Theater in Oakland next February. Should be fun!
Chris is a brilliant vocalist, the band is very tight and powerful. Solo does lose it points though.

That solo - talk about "called in"! Disrespectful, really. Chris' voice is all there is for this song.
same.
I agree with that, but I don't think that RP selects songs on that basis. The fact that you actually think there is such a think as commercial music I would dispute however. Why does everyone want to make things so complicated? There is good music, and there is music that is not so good, or just bad. It is different for different people. What sells well is not a criteria that anyone should worry about. It's not really worth discussing even. Enough. This horse has been beaten to death.

RP : could we have "I am the highway" pleeeaaaaaase ?
They released a third album, "Revelations", but as you said, they kind of fell off a bit. They were a good group that was probably best kept short lived, unfortunately.

I second that request!

Buckethead was busy that night so they had to come up with their own riffs.

Also, i dont get the RATM comparison. There surely are no sonic similarities, just some musicians are shared.
Some musicians —- as in —— all the musicians
Agreed - did you see Morello at the R&R HOF concerts with Springsteen doing Tom Joad. Solo similarly at odds with the rest of the presentation.
Yea, I love this song so I borrowed the album from a friend. This was the only song I really liked on there.
Fans of SG and PJ from that period will simply at that comment.
Not so much a guitar as it is a sonic, solo.
Really nice tune. Pretty sure it's used in the new "Miami Vice" movie, at least that's were my mind flows listening to this song.
Thank you Radio Paradise for great music all night long - it's 3 AM here in Europe.
