Sometimes I get a good feeling
I get a feeling that I never, never had before
And I got to tell you right now
I believe, I really do believe that

Something's got a hold on me
(Oh, it must be love)
Something's got a hold on me right now child
(Yeah, it must be love)

Let me tell you now
I never felt like this before
Something's got a hold on me that won't let go
I believe I'd die if I only could
I sure feel strange, but I sure feel good
I said, oh yeah
It must be love
(You know it must be love)

Let me tell you now
Something's got a hold on me
(Oh, it must be love)
Something's got a hold on me right now child
(Yeah, it must be love)

Let me tell you now
I got a feeling, I feel so strange
Everything about me seems to have changed
Step by step, I got a brand new walk
I even sound sweeter when I talk
I said, oh yeah
It must be love
(You know it must be love)

Let me tell you now
My heart feels heavy, my feet feel light
I shake all over, but I feel alright
I never felt like this before
Something's got a hold on me that won't let go
I never thought it could happen to me
My heart was heavy when in misery
I never thought it could be this way
Love's sure gonna put a hurting on me

I said oh yeah
It must be love
(You know it must be love)
Yeah he walks kike love
(Yeah he walks like love)
And he talks like love
(And he talks like love)
Makes me feel alright
(Makes me feel alright)
In the middle of the night
(In the middle of the night)
Na na na na!

Fun fact.
I just heard it: a soundscaped version Etta James' first verse of this song has been used by Avicii in his 2011 song "Levels".
Find Avicii's lyrics to see for yourself.
And once again, we all have Bill to thank for playing this classic. Thank you so much.
Can't believe its been nearly 10 years since she passed.  RIP, woman!  Hope she's still groovin' somehow.
Damn, Etta!
what a voice!
"Something's got a hold on me"

Some songs just aren't long enough, which, makes them just right.
Great - greater - most greatest

Spring of 63, I recon that comment will be with me now whenever Bob comes on, and I think your spot on, if it was n't it should have been.
My shoulders hitch right and left, my elbows go south. I lift my hands to the music, Etta, Etta, Etta.

OF COURSE one of the biggest EDM tracks of the past few years had an incredible voice and track it sampled from....

started humming a song from 1962"

I have noticed you are not critical of anything from prior to say, 1970 or esp 1960.  You just put your rubber stamp on all of it.

If you place this in your own context; in time, you will probably have your own favorite decades. Not that rubber stamps will exist then.

Wikipedia sez:

Jamesetta Hawkins was born on January 25, 1938, in Los Angeles, California, to Dorothy Hawkins, an African-American girl who was only 14 at the time. Her father has never been identified, but was rumored to be Caucasian.<6> James speculated that her father was the pool player, Rudolf "Minnesota Fats" Wanderone, and met him briefly in 1987.<7> Due to her mother being often absent from their Watts apartment, conducting relationships with various men, James lived with a series of foster parents, most notably "Sarge" and "Mama" Lu. James referred to her mother as "the Mystery Lady".<6>

Etta James at the Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles, California. 13 August 2008.

When I met her in 2001, Etta James was just about the sweetest woman you'd ever hope to meet. She was exactly what you would want your grandmother to be.

Now, seven years later at age 70, I have to assume she's still just that sweet. BUT...when the Queen of the Blues starts singing those dirty blues numbers, things turn nazzty. That sweet, grandmotherly woman is filthy! And, I like it.

New Year's Eve found us at home (Mrs. Lizard is recovering from surgery) watching Daryl Hall's "Live from Daryl's House" best-of compilation on WGN. We heard two amazing voices that we hadn't been aware of: Eli "Paperboy"  Reed and Fitz and the Tantrums with lead singer Michael Fitzpatrick. '60s soul never sounded so sweet! Check 'em out.

I have a copy of that DVD.  Although I was ready to be ultra-skeptical about Beyonce singing Etta's quintessential classic "At Last," I agree with you, Beyonce did a wonderful job.  Tough role though.  I had no idea Etta's life had been so intense.

yeah, good movie—well done.

This SONG has got ahold of me now...{#Dancingbanana_2}{#Dancingbanana}oh, oh, oh it must be love!
In New Orleans in the late 60s I remember this song being played on AM radio.  How things have changed. . . .

Yeah, like really singing for a change. She has a bigger voice in her left ear lobe than 99% of todays "singers"!
I know Etta had a couple of problems, but does she drink, take cocaine and down animal tranquilizers before cancelled concerts, too?

I usually love Etta...but I'm not getting this one.
Anybody who puts less than an 8 for this, or any Etta James track has the heart of a fish and the soul of a stone.
What a voice! I love Etta.
