Quiet chords from my guitar
Floating on the silence that surrounds us
Quiet thoughts and quiet dreams
Quiet walks by quiet streams
And a window looking on the mountains and the sea, oh how lovely
This is where I want to be
Here with you so close to me
Until the final flicker of life's ember
I who was lost and lonely
Believing life was only
A bitter tragic joke, have found with you, the meaning of existence, oh my love

RIP Astrud Gilberto. Your voice melts me every time.
Yes, I agree, RIP! Exceptional voice!
Goosebumps poor!
Takes me back to the late 80s when I first started listening to this on a Stan Getz cassette, on my Sony Walkman, while sipping gin & tonics in the Bahamas...while the gentle Caribbean breeze rustled the palms on the deck of the hotel in Hopetown...such memorable bliss, thank you for surprising me with this RP!
Cool story. Thank You for sharing it.
My dad used to play this song over and over when I was growing up. He's gone now but the song lives on in my soul. Nothing like it.
Thank You for sharing the story!
Sax solo gives it an automatic 'sucko-barfo'.
com'on people maybe he meant SEX not SAX.................
Sax solo gives it an automatic 'sucko-barfo'.
I'm so glad Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones(and so on) did not have the same thoughts about the sax.
Sax solo gives it an automatic 'sucko-barfo'.
You've got to be trolling.
Sax solo gives it an automatic 'sucko-barfo'.
Thank you for sharing your ignorance
The RP audience rates it 7.7 - your rating would be somewhat lower
BTW your handle [baddog8it] is delightfully descriptive [dogshit?].
Um cantinho,um violão
Este amor, uma canção
Pra fazer feliz a quem se amar
Muita calma pra pensar
E ter tempo pra sonhar
Da janela vê-se o corcovado
O redentor, que lindo
Quero a vida sempre assim
Com voçê perto de mim
Até o apagar da velha chama
E eu que era triste
Descrente deste mundo
Ao encontrar voçê e conheci
O que é felicidade meu amor.
O que é felicidade, o que é felicidade
Great set. From Take Five to this masterpiece. Takes me back to being 11 or 12, watching my folks have a mellow night (scotch, wine) and spin their favorite "cool jazz" records. Throw in some Gerry Mulligan and you've got it nailed. Those weren't the best of days, but they are sweet memories.
Different circumstances for me, though same feeling I get hearing this one, and it's 4:41pm so I'll pour a Scotch in a bit, queue up the Getz/Gilberto album and try to recreate some of your old memories. Long Live RP and Bossa Nova!!
Wow. It's my lucky day...PSD'd a Dylan "hit" for this gem...great...
Good move!!!
Please play more often
I AGREE!!!
with Astrud Gilberto
And Stan Getz?
Please play more often
Jobim has got to be the most underrepresented artist on RP. His collection is vast and revolutionary -- I say we need more!
Hear, hear
