I'll sing it one last time for you
Then we really have to go
You've been the only thing that's right
In all I've done
And I can barely look at you
But every single time I do
I know we'll make it anywhere
Away from here
Light up, Light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear
Louder, louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say
To think I might not see those eyes
It makes it so hard not to cry
And as we say our long goodbyes
I nearly do
Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear
Louder, louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say
Slower, slower
We don't have time for that
All I want is to find an easier way
To get out of our little heads
Have heart my dear
We're bound to be afraid
Even if it's just for a few days
Making up for all this mess
Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear
Then we really have to go
You've been the only thing that's right

Good song but I am not loving the production on the vocals- very ASMR-ish on the vocals, it actually makes my skin crawl a bit. I guess it does establish a sense of intimacy at least. lol
One of my favorite songs ever!!
light up, light up!!!
light up, light up!!!
Their best song by a country mile methinks. The disquieting intro, the soaring chorus, pop perfection.
Just SO love this track!
Snow Patrol is brilliant. Suck it haters
simple but very enjoyable :)
I love 99% of the songs on
RP but so many times it's a long string of downers! After an hour I want to put an exhaust pipe through my fucking heart! ...........

Leona Lewis took this rather plodding dirge and improved it immensely.

I used to think they were OK. Tolerable, but nothing I would want to own. The more and more I hear them, the more they annoy the hell out of me. Fake over-sentimental claptrap that tries too hard. Music by numbers purely to sell records in the mainstream and the opposite of art. There are many worse bands out there, but this is just regurgitated slush.
Correct. Pure treacle.
Skiied at a little Colorado hill named Ski Cooper years ago. Some of the best top-to-bottom runs I've ever made. That day included being dragged uphill by their Buckeye Platter for 100 yards, laughing uncontrollably until I could get my skis in position to pop up like a Weeble.
The tie-in with Snow Patrol? Ski Cooper was the original home of the US Army's Tenth Mountain Division, and those guys are a genuine "Snow Patrol".

Love this song. Perfect match for my go-to running playlist.
Leona Lewis took this excellent composition and turned it into a most special vocal performance, winning the 2006 X Factor in Britain with it. It was outstanding.
8→9 Today....and I fondly remember this as one of the new albums being featured on RP when I first logged on (under my former alias) way back in 2005. Holy Shit BillG has been part of my life as long as my house has!! Long Live RP and my house too!

It is such a pleasure to hear the original instead of the monstrosity by Leona Lewis that we get on the radio here every godamned day ...
Pathos detector overload!

The first time I heard this song was they day after the passing of my beloved dog he was 151/2 years old. My husband and I were grieving the loss so bad. He was like our pet child. Hard to believe he is gone even now... it's been 6 months.
I was looking to find a song that described how I was feeling about losing him. Somehow this song found me just by coincidence as I was looking up artists that I liked. I hadn't heard the song before and this version by Leona Lewis certainly tapped into my senses and I quickly identified with it as my song for Joe and my feelings of losing him.
I would agree with some reviewers it is dark but I think it has a lot of emotion and meaning especially Leona Lewis's version of the song. I really like Snow Patrols version too it's a little more subdued and I connect to it deeply too. I personally love hearing the song.
Thanks Bill when I first heard the song played on RP a couple of weeks ago it brought tears to my eyes and a smile to my face and all the feelings I had for Joe well, it was like he was right there with me. I heard it again the other day on RP and I was so happy you still play it even after a few negative comments.
Thanks Bill for all the work you do to keep RP going you really are the"Best".
Sincerely Liz and Doug.

Perhaps I'm being unfair, but Snow Patrol increasingly seem to be of a kind with Coldplay to me. Efficient, technically proficient, popular, yet lacking in emotion, with bland inoffensive lyrics. Sort of alternative pop by the numbers. Sad to say, I'm coming to think of both bands in the same light as Spandau Ballet and the other Yuprock bands of the 80s - the sort of music you could hear in the foyers of corporate buildings, or being listened to by Suits on their iPods.

Seriously sounds like someone listened to a lot of Disintegration from the Cure before writing this song (the beginning anyways).
Then, of course, the rest just sounds like something crappy and Coldplayish.

Back in 2005, I lost two of my kittens. Callie went first...she had a stroke, and it broke my heart to say goodbye.
After we put her down, this song seemed to be everywhere. I could hear her in the song, giving me a message to not grieve and that she was okay.
Four months later, after not hearing Run for a couple of months, I heard it again everywhere. I had been suspecting that my beloved Bobbie Cat was having health issues, but I ignored it since Callie's death affected me so strongly. But the song would be played out of nowhere...RP, Clear Channel...and I felt like Callie was trying to reach me about something. I clung to Bobbie, but I finally had to realize that he was in pain. A trip to the vet showed a liver full of tumors. I had to say goodbye a second time in five months to a furry loved one.
And Bobbie...Bobbie...
Parents aren't supposed to have favorites, but Bobbie was in another category. He just was. I mourned him, a goofy, smelly cat, for two years before I could think of him and not cry.
After Bobbie left, SP's Run seemed to have disappeared. It was just gone from the airwaves. I think Callie used it to comfort me, and then she told me that she would be waiting for Bobbie to take him home. And then they were gone, just like that.
I hadn't heard Run after that for a while. Then, this past October, I heard it three times in a week. I thought this was odd. But the next week my ex called me to tell me that our little Chili had passed at a healthy 16 years old. She just curled up and fell asleep after having a day of being affectionate and playful. She was the last of the three, and went happily on her own terms. Good for her!
I think Callie told me that she'd be there for Chili, just like she was for Bobbie. I really think so. And now tonight, as I listen to this song, I smile with wet eyes as I hear my precious fuzzy ones say hello to me and tell me that, somewhere, they're all together. And maybe, when it's my time, my fuzzy babies will come to take me home, too.
And that's just fine by me.

I'm always mixed on Snow Patrol. Sometimes the music feels solid and powerful, but sometimes it does feel a bit plodding. Seems to depend on my mood.

I have nothing against SP generally, but this song is just tedious, in all respects. 1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4-chunk-chunk-chunk-chunk-… I must be missing something.
Very nice!
Love this song. Every time I hear it I like it more

Sounds like they're channeling U2 (and "channeling" is the polite term).

Probably the only SP song I don't care for much, because of the way he sings the lyrics - sounds like he's pursing his lips; very odd. Although he clears it up in the chorus for some reason.
I loved this song and I've never seen them live, but I've seen video of them performing before a live audience and it's transcendentally gorgeous.
Love the sweeping, layered chorus.
this. doesn't. suck.
Starts out wanting to be "Dandy Warhols" (who could blame them?), ends up really wimpy Snow Patrol. Downgrade to 5-
When I hear this song I'm reminded of the day my 22 year old son came into my house and said I should check this band out. Before that he was listening to a lot of crap(I mean rap).I'm happy and proud sharing musical tastes with my kids......something I couldn't do with my parents.I think a lot of us "boomers" share this generational gift.

Still just about the only song on RP that makes me reach for the mute button. And it just got downgraded from a 2 to a 1. Poor little guy :(
What a chump—-U-R.
I really like this song, great tune :)
Nice tune, but they lose points for the obnoxious Auto-tune on the vocal...
