And they'll lay you down low in the easy
And the lips that you kiss will say Christmas.
And the miles that you traveled the distance

So believe no lies, dry your eyes and realize
That surprise
La, la, la, la la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la...
And the businessmen will shake hands and talk in numbers
And the princess will wake up from her slumber
Then all the knights will step forth with their arm bands
And ev'ry stranger you meet in the street will make demands
So believe no lies, then dry your eyes and realize
That surprise
La, la, la...

Bridge:
And we'll send you glad tidings from New York
Open up your eyes sa you may see
Ask you not to read between the lines
Hope that you will come in right on time
And they'll talk to you while you're in trances
And you'll visualize not taking any chances
But meet them halfway with love, peace and persuasion
And expect them to rise for the occasion
Don't it gratify when you see it materialize
Right in front of your eyes
That surprise

And they'll lay you down low and easy

What wonderful saxophone playing on this track.
"And you'll visualize not taking any chances
But meet them halfway with love, peace and persuasion
And expect them to rise for the occasion."
Oh yah!
Always Van Thanks
This is a lovely addition to the morning's playlist. Thank you.

I was going to say how much I love Van as part of my morning soundtrack; but then I realized I really love his songs in the early evenings, too, around sunset. And at night, maybe after a cocktail, when it's still and quiet. And of course, on the weekends. So...yeah. Van Morrison on my everyday anytime playlist.
Odd disconnect. After The Temptations "Get Ready," this one's in a key slightly a semitone lower than "Get Ready," like D to D flat. So the first round of the "Glad Tidings" bass sounded slightly flat to me, and I'm thinking, "That can't be..." One of those instances in which the ear will play an odd trick or two.
Great song to hear ...........sweet song to drift off to after a lovely B day !  la lalala lalalala lalalala lalala

Yay!{#Dancingbanana}

Cheese alert!

Just utter quality.
And this isn't close to the being strongest song on the album.

Agreed! It is one of the better on a great album! I just loved how this song was used in a great climax of The Sopranos (Last episode of Season 5).
+1
