It lay buried here
It lay deep inside me
It's so deep I don't think that I can speak about it
It could take me all my life
But it would only take a moment to
Tell you what I'm feeling
But I don't know if I'm ready yet
You come waltzing into this room
Like you're walking into my arms
What would I do without you?

CHORUS
Take away the love and the anger
And the little piece of hope holding us together
Looking for a moment that'll never happen
Living in the gap between past and future
Take away the stone and the timber
And a little piece of rope won't hold it together

If you can't tell your sister
If you can't tell a priest
Cause it's so deep you don't think
That you can speak about it to anyone
Can you tell it to your heart?
Can you find it in your heart
To let go of these feelings
Like a bell to a southerly wind
We could be like two strings beating
Speaking in sympathy
What would we do without you?
Two strings speak in sympathy
(what would we do without you?)

CHORUS

You might not think so now
But just you wait and see
(someone will come to help you)

Lawdy, is this song just THE most romantic little gem or what?!
I will always have a spot in my heart for Kate Bush. Truly one of a kind artist, both sonically and visually. Hey, and that's David Gilmour on guitar at the end (he helped her with her first demo that got her record deal).

Fabulous lyrics. Just take a look.

God bless her! She did her own music her own way and pioneered a path for others in the process. Love this song.
Can't get any better than this! Wonderful song from a wonderful album 😀😍
Thanks to @Lazarus from me as well for giving me Cyanera's story which I didn't know. I joined RP after her leaving, this makes her more real to me.
Thanks Lazarus for sharing Cynaera's obituary.

I always looked forward to reading her comments.   -Erik

We all miss you so very much, Cynaera...  everybody in my elevators loves this emotive song...  Kate Bush is an incredible musician with millions of marvelous songs...

Ann Lucas passed away February 6, 2012, at University of Utah Medical Center, at age 55 due to a subdural hematoma, which required surgery. She was put on life support, but after three days without signs of improvement, her family made the difficult decision to discontinue life support and donate her organs on the 6th.

Ann was born on Oct. 12, 1956, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Buss and Dorothy Stepp, who encouraged her to follow her dreams. One dream was to become a published author, which she achieved in 2010 with her novel "Life-Dance". She also wrote fan fiction for the television show "La Femme Nikita".

Ann was also a freelance correspondent for the "Elko Independent" newspaper and had a recurring column called "Shaking the Tree", as well as writing articles for "Elko Daily Free Press".

 dang 1989? where did the time go..?  {#Eek}

Beautiful.
Brave, daring, remarkable.
Listened to the drowning series on Hounds of Love yesterday and literally began crying at its beauty.

I understand that not everyone can love everything about every artist - but Kate Bush is worth your attention, from the Dreaming album forward.

Kate always makes me just float away
LOVE Kate Bush. Forever.

I heard that Kate was 'discovered' by David Gilmour.. can't remember where I heard that, but I thought it was cool.

I love Kate, although this isn't a song of hers that I enjoy very much. She has some really great obscure songs that I'd love to hear on RP. Here are some suggestions:

* French version of The Infant Kiss. (For some reason, it's miles better than the English one.)
* Her cover of The Man I Love, with Larry Adler
* Under the Ivy (gorgeous old B-side)
* December Will Be Magic Again (an Xmas song that is good enough to listen to any time)
Had truly forgotten about this song, Sensual World not being m'y favorite album of hers, but I like it (à long with the title song and the ageless 'This woman's world')

thanks for reminding me, Bill !

Felt much the same way when I started listening to RP. In fact Wuthering Heights, in particular, got on my nerves. But now, I'm starting to get why some people like her so much. A big thanks to Bill for that - the way he sequences the music has everything to do with me discovering new acts and growing to like acts I'd previously decided were not my cup of tea.
I've never really been a fan, but I do love this song!

Kate was my first love, but Tori also have a place in my heart
And again today - legendary transition = pleased listeners  {#Cheers}

We grew up on Kate Bush in Toronto listening to the once incredible CFNY over the FM airwaves.

Kate Bush (b. 1958) had her first No. 1 (UK) hit in 1967, when Tori Amos (b. 1963) was 14. Mmm, Tori was probably out of a TB by then, and Kate, with only one hit under her quirky belt, wasn't yet a legend. I will agree, however, that Kate was massively huge before Tori was a blip on the collective radar. And, yes, I'm talking about star status, not the things that TBs attend to...

I first heard this song as part of a mix tape that a boyfriend made for me in college in 1989-1991... loved it then, and still love it.
One of the few songs where I really love the lyric content- like the Chameleon's Second Skin song... I'm not huge into lyrics but this one is an exception!
Not a fan of Kate Bush at all.
Sounds like there was a helium leak in the studio.
First time I have ever heard this song.  Love it!  I'm giving it a 9

Tar and feathers forthcoming. Um, olive oil will usually loosen the tar. The feathers should come off with the tar, but if they don't, you'll just look like a feathered something-or-other.  (Let's agree that Kate Bush was a legend before Tori Amos was in a trainer bra.)

I'm holding the tar and feathers in retainer.  ;o)

most excellent. A lot of great music came out during this period.. right on the cusp of 'modern rock' becoming 'alternative rock'.

Put me in the category of those who though KB used to be a hottie, with excellent music to boot.
I always wanted to bury my head in her cleavage for peace and comfort.

I generally don't like to post "me too" responses but in this case...I'll cave.  I'm a big fan of KB's unique artistry.  Be sure to check out "The Kick Inside" (debut release) as it is simply incredible musically and lyrically.

I think the song you're referring to is actually Wuthering Heights.

Not my favorite KB song. But she is the bomb.

Kate Bush's music is an acquired taste, but as someone who first encountered her in 1989 with this riveting song, I'm so glad that I made the effort.

I had a crush on Kate Bush back when I saw her up on Paul Shaffer's piano on SNL.
Hearing her, without knowing who it was at the time, on a bus in Paris, France, was an experience that still gives me chills! I got to see one of her shows on TV and have never seen such moving while singing! She is a goddess! Always will be!
Brilliant Woman!
Embarrassing as it may be, I thought this was Cyndi Lauper.

I love the vigour in this song.
Great song from a great album. She has a dvd out of a lot of her music videos and it is great. Big Sky is a classic video.

A worthy follow-up to PG IYELIA.
She is a great technical vocalist without a doubt. However I find her voice to be shrill and piercing in an extremely unpleasant way. I can appreciate the technical aspects but don't find it pleasant to listen to at all. Listening to her is like reading the Wall Steet Journal. You can learn a lot from it but that doesn't make it fun. (to me)
I could not relate to this album when it came out and I turned away from KT for a while but hearing it now I realise it's a great song and what a voice!

If they ever make a movie about my disastrous marriage and the happily ever after that was my divorce, this would be the theme song. This is Kate Bush at her finest to me.
Kate, Kate, Kate.... How I love thee....
love it!!

Totally and completetly and thoroughly love this song. Sheer brilliance.

Is that Kate Bush on the album cover, or is it Jane Weidlin or Toni Basil?
