Wow, I feel good
I knew that I would, now
I feel good
I knew that I would, now
So good, so good, I got you

Wow, I feel nice
Like sugar and spice
I feel nice
Like sugar and spice
So nice, so nice, I got you

When I hold you in my arms
I know that I can't do no wrong
And when I hold you in my arms
My love won't do you no harm

And I feel nice
Like sugar and spice
I feel nice
Like sugar and spice
So nice, so nice, I got you

When I hold you in my arms
I know that I can't do no wrong
And when I hold you in my arms
My love can't do me no harm

And I feel nice
Like sugar and spice
I feel nice
Like sugar and spice
So nice, so nice, I got you

Wow, I feel good
I knew that I would, now
I feel good
I knew that I would
So good, so good, I got you
So good, so good, I got you
So good, so good, I got you

Hey!

Glad I got to see him live. Lived up to his rep even in his late 60s.
hung out by the back entrance after the show when I saw a mob. He came out like he was going straight to his limo but spotted a friend. Came over to say hello  and ended up shaking everyone's hand (this is pre-cell phone era). Gave everyone a big smile as he did.
Tainted by being used as stock music in endless commercials from the late 1990s to the 2020s, most recently for Applebees.  I'd be happy not ever hearing this song again.  Shame on you, UMG.
On his youtube channel, Adam Neely recently released a video titled "Solving James Brown's Rhythmic Puzzle" where he analyzed which word gets the accent in "I Got You".  Great content in general by Adam and this one was extra-great.

Is it:
I feel good
or
i FEEL good
or
i feel GOOD

I'm with one of the commenters; the emphasis is on WAAOOW :-)

Long Live RP and James Brown's high energy funk!
I saw the great man live! Way past his best-incredibly tight band, great night.
GREAT TUNE!!!! When this came out, I used to listen to it on a 5kw rock & roll station, WMCA 570AM (NYC) with the "Good Guys" DJs! WABC,  "Radio 77" (NYC) 770AM,  the 50kw R&R station, didn't have the guts to play it!
If you give this a low rating, you have no feeling for music....
Nolan's chicken scratch'n and Maceo on alto sax...Outstanding
The Godfather
This song came on our Windows XP home pc (20year ago). I think it is the first mp3 i've ever heard.
The song they play when you stroll through the pearly gates.
Nothing for  four years!!!  ?Criminal!  Anyone who rates this as less than 9 wants help!
Excellant!  So solid, tight and funky, performed by a masterful singer, James was an amazing sight to behold
A stone cold classic!
 My best to you as well (as i dry my eyes) Rooney wrote:

My family knows I am onto something when I start walking around the house whistling this one. Love it
No no no no no! James turns in his grave everytime someone plays this song!
brings back memories of putting coins in the jukebox where I worked graveyard shift as a waitress in a truck stop ... 1969 :)
Another genius segue from the Master: ZZ Top - Just Got Paid to this! Bringing that horn section in on the last note of a hard guitar riff: not even remotely stylistically similar, yet the transition is smooth as silk.   {#Meditate}
There's a reason this song is a classic. It still holds up after all this time - I especially like the saxophone.

Cmon man, enough already! There are plenty of wonderful JB songs to play, just stop it!{#Frustrated}
I love this, but I was just thinking the other day that I'd like to hear some of his more underrated songs.  This guy's body of work is tremendous and yet I only ever hear like 3 of his songs.
So much soul they even named a bridge after him:
The James Brown Soul Center of the Universe Bridge... Steamboat Spgs, Colorado

I'm kinda over this song. There must be more James Brown that I would still find exhilarating and that wouldn't make me think of Good Morning Vietnam.

Hell yeah there is more!  His single-CD best of "20 All-Time Greatest Hits" is a great start.  But if you react like me, that will only stoke the fire and you'll pony up for the 4 CD career-spanning box set "Star Time."
Happy hunting!
I had the privelege of seeing James perform when he was in his prime.  I immediately knew how he got his nickname.  Amazing and unforgettable!

I also lost my sister to cancer.  At least she got to see my band perform at the local bandshell before she left us.  I keep reading amazing things that some doctors are doing to find a cure.  One is badly needed.  Thanks for your story.

Hey, is that Eric Estrada on the album cover?
What's he doing there?
Because of my job I hear this song almost every day. That is one of the reasons I love my job.
I found myself doing the twist while doing the cleaning. (RP in the background) {#Dancingbanana_2}

James be gettin' down so damn funky, he just cain't hep'it  .....  Bootsy too {#High-five}

James Brown shot live on stage in the summer of 2005. The first and last time I'd ever photograph this great performer

Those psychotic bananas scare me {#Sorry}
this is a real clean recording...wonder if it's remastered?
A really good song completely ruinated by oversaturation! So sad!{#Cry}

Ya what she said s

Hail the funkmaster. "I Got You" is a great funky one, but lots of his other, less popular stuff, is definitely worth a listen.
A great all-time classic. What gripes me these days, though, is that this gets played at an increasing number of football (soccer, to you lot across the Pond) grounds as a 'sting' after a goal's been scored, which is highly irritating. Not yer man Brown's fault, of course.

I'm surprised this isn't rated higher. How someone would rate this lower than a 9 is surprising to me.

This song kinda sucks when you don't "feel good."

so much effort needs to be appreciated...

Not a big James Brown fan , but I like this one .

Better to have chosen a higher-quality college, if those verb tenses are any indication. . . .

As for the song: pfft.  Whatever.  Blah.

...and he could dance with the best of 'em until he was well past 60!
The media lately having been going on and on about the late Michael Jackson non stop. When it comes to excitement, James Brown was the real deal with real music. Enough said!

What about Sharon Jones (and the Dap-Kings) when we're lookin' for soul?

OH YEA!! way cool of RP.

Been listening for years and this is the first time I have heard it here!
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaceo Paaaaaarkeeeeer  {#Jump}

Saw him do this on the Tonight Show in '68...first time I'd ever heard of him. I was stunned!

Years later our traveling roadshow was holed up at a bar in Hartford where they played JB tracks all night....fond memory.

Yas, Yas, Yas .... but now don't forget the great Richard Pryor -- shot his wife's mercedes and them did a whole routine about it and sold a million more records RIP...
yeah this is a 12 all the way. If you don't like it, your not listening to it loud enough, turn it up to 11.
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN...THE HARDEST WORKING MAN IN SHOWBUSINESS...JAMES BROWN...OUWWWW!! A friend of mine, Prakash John, worked for his band as a bass player when in Toronto many years ago. He was shocked when JB announced that he would dock them pay if their attire wasn't perfect or their shoes were shined. Prakash passed...he was very festidious about his appearance anyway.

I'm checking out the album cover....and trying to imagine James on skis.....wow!
Another great segue . . .
THE definitive R&B vocal from THE definitive soul tune by the God of the Genre. I feel good.

Art evolves. It's probably almost 40 years old. Just consider it Kitsch.
The big silence for the song preceeding... absolute silence. And then, out of nowhere, WHOOAA. Thanks James, I'm awake now.
I feel good this AM....I feel better than James Brown!!! I'll meet you later at the Bridge!!

Tell 'em, Godfather!
James Brown's music went from funky revolutionary to a product that helps you take a crap. That's what happens when you lose control of your own material.

Sure we have heard it a lot, but still, its got to be one of the greatest songs of all time. I saw him while bartending back in the day and it was the best show I think we ever had. An outstanding showman.
Stick a fork in it!
not overrated - overplayed on regular fucking radio. ruin music - isn't that ironic? he must be off deciphering some long forgotten physics phenomenon....after all, he is a self-proclaimed 'genius'...eh? :-s

We could use more of this 'round here, IMO. :nodhead:
